Pimax Crystal Light
Had this just over a day and wow very impressed with it.I own the hp reverb g2 and this is miles better.I saw a few reviews about lens issues etc but mine seem to be ok love the clarity of the image. Not tested it yet on my simracing yet but can't wait to try it on it.It more comfortable than I was led to believe by some reviews but not had it on for more than an hour. But no issues for me upto now very happy.

Terrible
Paid for a new Pimax crystal light and received a used faulty one, the plastic lense covers were just stuck onto a bubble wrap bag and what I thought were scratches on the left lenses were grease smear marks ( see photo's) the controllers were dead on arrival but I understand they might have needed charging but after an hour only the right controller would charge and the left one was faulty.I did start the headset just to see what all the fuss was about regarding pimax headsets and the headset is so uncomfortable and bulky, the cable is so heavy it pulls you head to the left and puts pressure on your neck , the spherical lenses make you feel dizzy and I really do not like them and compared to the Quest 3 they simply are not as good.... period!!! And for more than twice the price!!The screen door IS visible and with the lenses not being that good it actually degrades the image.I did understand before I bought the Pimax that there has been some Quality control issues and was like a lottery if you was sent a new working headset and that's why I bought from Amazon as back up but I still ended up with a second hand headset and for all that money!!!!! Disgusting service and I cannot recommend that you use Pimax for your next Vr headset.

Hidden charges
If you can wait then order direct from pimax as they are a few hundred ££ cheaper. I've been lucky the headset is working well. They have their issues with QC so it can be a lottery.

Pimax Crystal Light
I bought the Pimax Crystal Light as a replacement for the HP G2, given that Micro$oft had EOL'd Windows Mixed Reality Portal. The Pimax is bigger and heavier, no doubt, and it took me some time to get comfortable with it. As with all the VR headsets I've owned (Quest 2, G2) setup involves some fine tuning, but once that was complete I've not had to do it again.I have a RTX3080Ti, and I was concerned that I might not get good performance with the Crystal Light, but again, some tweaking of settings and it's fine.So what is the big feature of the Pimax Crystal Light? The answer is in the visual quality. It's a very significant improvement over the G2, much brighter and more detailed. It's significantly more immersive than it's predecessors.I've used it briefly in M$FS 2020 and 2024, but the results were mixed. I don't believe that M$FS is that well optimised for VR, so I don't blame the Pimax. My primary use is in DCS World, and there the Crystal Light makes a big difference. I got used to the Fixed Foveated Rendering pretty quickly, and the visuals are just epic. For those who want top performance the Crystal Super might be the option, but I suspect you'd need a RTX5090 to drive that one well. All in all the Pimax Crystal Light is a major improvement, and well worth the purchase.

Does not do as advertised, this is another rushed headset
I tried over and over again to get the headset to work smoothly. It doesn't matter what you play it does not do as advertised. The headset is badly balanced, uncomfortable and crashes constantly. As for VR Flights sims light MSFS 202 and 2024 it constantly glitches or crashes and found the same with driving sims. PIMAX stop selling headsets that are not ready this is a beta test headset not fit for sale.

5 Stars overall, once the spending stops . . .
There's an awful lot to like here, BUT, this is far from out of the box ready.Be prepared for some IPD configuration and lens offsetting.Be prepared to buy alternative headstraps, 3D printed adapters and face foams for comfort.Be prepared to buy base stations and tripods for 6DOFBe prepared to buy controllers.Be prepared to wrestle with Steam VR.Be prepared for Pimax's somewhat low rent, but functional, Pitool.I've spent considerably more than the headset itself cost to get things anywhere near approaching ready to go for a proper experience, and the headset can still prove to be painful around my nose and eye sockets. Either that, or tighten everything up so tight to keep it from resting on those areas that your head ends up resembling a number 8 and starve your brain of blood and oxygenHowever, despite all that, and once it's off the ground functionality-wise, the wide field of view is well worth it. Be liberated from looking through a loo roll into your VR delights, but instead presented with some fantastic wide immersion. My Quest 2, with Bobo VR add-ons (much better than the official upgrades) is comparable in comfort to wearing my favorite aviators. A stark contrast is the Pimax, which is more akin to a medieval torture device before modding. However, it is night and day FOV-wise, so the Quest 2 is difficult to go back to for me. Same with the Rift CV1 I have, which I oddly prefer to the Quest 2.So, if you have a credit card able to take the financial ravaging, I give 5 stars for the experience overall, but knock it down to a 3 as there's so much time and expense involved to get there . . .

Huge regret
This thing is not light by any means, it's very heavy with the cable pulling the left side down. It's extremely uncomfortable, with light bleeding in unless you force it onto your face so hard your head is gonna pop off, and then your nose gets plastic cutting into it. The software is terrible. The image itself moves a lot when you move your head counter to your movements, unlike the Quest 3. The resolution is nice, but that's about it. The see-through is terrible quality and greyscale like Quest 2. In spite of spending over a grand on this, I find myself just going back to my Quest 3 for everything. It is proof that specs alone don't make a better product.
