Like a lot of cost-conscious shoppers these days, I always give Amazon a look before making a big-buck purchase for my home or garage, not only because I appreciate their customer service and no-hassle policies, but because they have lots of reviews to help inform my buying decision.The reviews for this door were pretty good to begin with, and in considering those reviews from dissatisfied buyers it was apparent that the problems weren't with the door itself, but with the buyers: either they didn't have the tech knowledge to install the door, or had simply bought the wrong door. So lesson one is, read the description and make sure you're buying the correct size.It took me about an hour to install this door and other than a power drill, no special tools were required. Directions were clear and concise. Everything fit perfectly and the two-pane glass window really keeps the cold out (and will hopefully do the same when summer comes back to Sacramento). The "extra large" opening for the canines is a little smaller than our old dog door, but my border collie and 85lb yellow Lab were able to navigate it without much difficulty.The finished door looks great and matches my white vinyl patio door and frame exactly; looks like the two were built to go together.Be advised, however, that the patio door opening for YOU, the human, will be reduced quite a bit after you install this pet door. You'll have about half the walk-through opening that you had before, so if this isn't acceptable, better think about another solution.All in all, this door is an excellent choice, a fairly easy install (just take your time), and I think you'll be pleased with the results.

This is not some tin sliding glass door doggy door. This is a dual pane window version that what I've seen as the closest you can get to a sliding glass door. The door itself is made of plastic, but they're insulated and built very well to keep the outside temps from coming in.I work from home and spend all day with my large and small dogs. Because of this, my dogs are used to going in/out whenever they needed to outside or go to their run. I needed a well-insulated door and window to keep the hot temps outside. As you can imagine, no traditional doggy door would accommodate these needs. This was the option I was looking for. I had to purchase the larger version in order to accommodate my larger dogs. Also, I do have the taller doorways, so I had to purchase the taller version as well.Installation was not hard, but I'm also a "handy" person, so this was relatively easy. If you're unsure of your capabilities, please find a good installer as you need to ensure you line up your locking mechanisms. If you don't have it lined up correctly, you risk your door latch not catching or having gaps in your installation.As mentioned, this is a well-built door and fits very well. It's made of glass and vinyl, which is pretty much what my doorway is made of. The white color also matches the vinyl on my door. As mentioned, the doggy door itself is made equally as well and insulated.Because of my unique needs of a large doggy door, tall (height) door, and insulated (dual pane), it comes at a price. This is nearly 5 times as much a tin door. The biggest issue I have with this product is the price and not the product itself. If you're like me, I'm just happy I found a product that fits my needs, but is always reminded this cost of fulfilling those need.Overall, I removed 1-star for this product due to the price. That being said, it's an exceptional doggy door that seems durable, insulated, and accommodates my 5 pound dog as well as my two 60+ pound dogs.I recommend.

It's a little more difficult to install than the spring-loaded aluminum doors but it's well worth the effort. It fits perfectly in our vinyl door tracks. The prevailing wind hits this door all day and the segmented entry flap makes a perfect seal. Double glazing keeps the cold out and I am sure it will keep the summer heat out too. The door sill is a bit high for our dachshunds so I had to build little ramps to stop them scraping their bellies as they transit through but "Wienerdogs" are a special case; other dogs would have no problem with this door. Well worth the investment.

So happy with this pet door. 2 of our 3 dogs took to it within about a day. (Third dog is probably enjoying the extra attention!) Double panes work great and kept out this Summer's crazy heat. Installation was very straightforward. Only issue I had was where the directions said there should be a minimum of 5/16" to the edge of "H" Section. Should say "maximum" 5/16". I ended up having to go back twice to adjust, then re-adjust the main frame. All in all, an excellent door, worth the price.
