The mounting plates are paper thin and i wouldnt trust them near the stairs, but to help up or down a single step or for balance they are fine.

I bought these for equipment handles by using the tubes only (not using wall hardware - weak point) and bolting from the inside. They are solid and look great.

This is a solid well made hand grib. It's not a large one like you normally see, it's smaller so it doesn't stand out and distract from the house. It's the perfect size for me to grab hold of on my icy snow covered back steps. The trim of my home is black so it doesn't stand out. It's very easy to install too
