UPDATE: I decided to try this support one more time, thinking that it would be uncomfortable again and that i would ultimately return it. As expected, it did cause pain and irritation where it rubbed; when I took it off there was an angry red mark all around the top part of my thumb joint. And that gave me an idea - now that I could see exactly where it had rubbed, I could try trimming the plastic away in that area. So I gradually went round the thumb opening with some sharp nail scissors, shaving away small amounts of the soft plastic and trying it on again. Eventually, having cut away quite a lot of the black plastic all around the thumb opening, it got to the point where the brace was actually comfortable to wear! Today I've worn it constantly for 9 hours and not only has it not rubbed my hand, but for the first time in many months I've had zero pain in my CMC joint!! This is literally the BEST thing I've bought on Amazon and it has significantly improved my quality of life! I know that sounds a bit over-dramatic but it's only now that I've had a pain-free day that I've realised just how much my injured thumb had been dragging me down. I've got another appointment with the hand surgeon in two months' time, I'm hoping that if I wear this brace every day until then my injury will have had a chance to heal and he will notice a significant improvement in my condition :) ORIGINAL REVIEW: Having severely sprained my thumb / wrist 5 months ago I am still experiencing a lot of pain in my CMC thumb joint. I have a range of supports but generally they are too restrictive in areas of my hand where I don't actually need any support, so I bought this one as it specifically targets just the painful joint. I bought size Small, although my hand measurement is on the cusp of XS / S. Initially it seemed great, it fit very well (with the straps pulled as tight as they go). I could still use my hand as normal, just my CMC joint was held still. However, after about an hour I had to take it off because it became very uncomfortable in the area between finger and thumb. The plastic is just too wide in that area and it digs in on both sides. If it had been cheaper I would have kept it to use just when doing specific tasks that cause the pain to increase. But this was expensive, so I'll be sending it back - if it had been comfortable enough to wear all day it would have been worth the money.

I have arthritis in both my thumbs, after spending quiet a bit of money for stuff to support my thumbs I found these. Durability is great, I got the large ones for comfort and a good fit, they are a little on the pricey side but we'll worth it. You get 2 velcro straps for each left and right brace, it is a great pity that they do not sell spare straps. Very good design.

A solid, easy to wear brace which helps to protect the joint. The thumb sleeve provided is really useful for comfort but much less robust than the brace itself. It is provided as a 'gift' but it doesn't appear to be possible to buy these separately. This is really unfortunate as it's already starting to fray.

I have double jointed thumb joints and got this to reduce the amount of strain when playing clarinet. So far its worked great allowing me to play for longer periods without cramps. Good adjustability and the size fits my thumb quite well.

Pleased with the fit and support the unit provides. The support comes with a liner which really improves the comfort. The straps do not have to be super tight to hold the support in place. Quality of the unit is good too.

This is a perfect solution for arthritic thumb. The splint / brace offers brilliant support especially good for practical work hands, and comes with useful extras. Highly recommended and to pay a little more for something that works.

Good support but the Velcro has stopped working

We sent this back, only because it did not suit my smaller hand. Quality and ease of use is there to see though.
