A good feeder to rely on for vacation times!
I will start off by saying I definitely love fish. At the time I used these for vacation, I had 4 tanks set up (took one down due to downsizing), and still have 3 running with various fish from large (10-12") in one tank down to the smallest ones (0.5-1") in the other three tanks, and these feeders worked amazingly well for all of them.I took a week long vacation for the holidays in December, and set up four of these feeders (one on each tank). Three of the feeders were filled with flakes, which worked excellent in them, and one was set up with medium-size sinking pellets for my large oscar. The scheduling was very easy to set up once I knew what buttons to push in what order, though, keep in mind the timings are set up in 24hr time, so, a bit of converting may be in order if you are on 12hr time. The variable amounts with the slider worked great with the flakes, but were more fiddly with the pellets, and I had to take packing tape and tape off half of the hole to only drop a small amount that my oscar could grab or manage at a time, so, if you're dealing with a single fish or a few fish, keep this trick in mind.I was surprised at how waterproof the canister for the food is, as it rests with the opening facing above it, and the fact that it does not keep the opening above the water and just slide a door open to feed makes sure the food does not get wet or clump up and block the opening. All and all, a reliable feeder from a brand that does a wonderful job to relieve worry when one is away from their tanks for a while.

Kept Fish Fed , Alive, and Healthy
Had it in a humid environment running for almost 5 weeks while on a trip. No fish casualties. No caking of Hikari mini pellets. The pellets seemed dry and still fresh upon inspection. Therefore, the built in active ventilation seems to work efficiently enough. Like with all drum feeders, the amount of food dispersed is not always consistent, but as long as it do not overfeed or underfeed consistently, it can tide you over even during a prolonged absence.I wish the programming was more flexible (every other day but a larger portion rather than to rely on daily on the smallest opening and maybe risk food build up with flakes).

Very easy to program and setup. I use it for everyday feeing.
Very easy to program and setup, however a little tough to maintain. There really isn't a way to measure how much your fish will get fed unless you just do 'test runs' of it. You'll have to keep adjusting the opening on the feeder until it dumps exactly the amount you want. Also the amount is a function of how full the food container is. I've noticed that the lower it goes the less consistent it becomes from feeding to feeding.I use it for feeding daily and it seems to do a great job. When the food gets low I keep an eye on it. And if you get to know your fish you'll know if they're not quite satisfied yet. For me if I approach the tank and they all swim to the top expecting to be fed, I just make another dump, and they are fine.I would recommend and will buy another of this type for my next tank.

Wonderful Product
This product works great once it is set up. Make sure you read the instructions for proper programing. I have a wooden lighting/top on my 55 gal tank and just drilled a 1 1/4 inch hole along one side away from the lights and air tubes. Then I put a piece of paper over the hole and manually ran the unit in different spots until I found the spot where only a minimal amount of food did not fall and drew an outline of the unit position on the top and removed the paper for use. The original batteries are still operating since I started using it in the beginning of June. Recommendation - don't let the unit get less than half full and make sure if your flakes are large that you crush them up a little so the scoop works effectively. My fish are happy and I am happy. I go away for long weekends or vacations and they are fine!

Customer Service
I've been a loyal Eheim customer for several years. I use the Everyday Fish Feeder and have experienced no problems up to my last purchase. The feeder drum was programmed to turn twice but stops after the 1st revolution. I called and spoke with Ervin and had a pleasant conversation and was told that I would receive a new feeder in 4-5 days. That was April 6, 2023. It is now April 18 and after an my email followup and my several phone calls I've had no response. I truly like this brand but am very disappointed in Eheim's warranty response. I hope their Customer Service reads this and positively responds by sending me a new unit as promised by my initial contact on April 6, 2023 with Ervin.

Dependable
We purchased this feeder for those times when we're away from home and our 38 gallon fish tank. I set it up (quite easy) and tested it for a week before we left - worked great. I DID have to tape a piece of plastic (curved, from a soda bottle) against the edge of the hole in the lid of the tank, where the food is dispensed. Some of the food was ejecting over the edge and this simple "fix" guided the excess food into the tank instead of onto the floor. I think this was because our lid has a rather small opening - not a fault of the feeder. It worked flawlessly while we were away - no problems with wet food or hangups. I also like the fact that it's battery operated - no need to worry about a power outage.

Not Great for Betta Fish
Got the feeder to take care of one betta fish for a multi-week absence. Thankfully we tested it for a couple weeks before we had to leave because it does not work well for our needs. Although it was easy to set up and program with plenty of options to set how often to feed, it is impossible to get a consistent amount of food out of the feeder opening.Using betta pellets, on the smallest opening we would get 0-6 out per rotation and after a few days pieces would get stuck and nothing came out until we cleared it again. On the second opening way too much food comes out for a betta even when taping up the opening to limit it. This would be a good option for a larger tank with more fish but I do not recommend it for a betta fish. We have instead opted to go for a feeder that allows us to specify exact portions for each feeding while we are gone.
