What I needed to be comfortable
I guess I am starting my own box for chinrests but I don't think I will be adding to it for awhile. This Mulko chinrest was recommended by Alison Sparrow, online violin and piano tutor. She did me a good turn. Because of the way my neck, shoulder and jaw bone are shaped I was having a hard time getting comfortable with the chinrest that came with my violin. It was too thick and too big to fit me comfortably. This chinrest it exactly right for me and my violin. It came promptly and in perfect condition. It fits my violin perfectly and, more importantly, it fits my jaw bone. First time I have been comfortable playing my violin of two weeks. I have not had my violin long but long enough to know I needed another chinrest. I have found comfort at last. If things change as I continue to play, I will update this review. Happy violins for everyone!

Very comfortable chin-rest
I find the ebony chin-rests that come on most violins and violas to be very uncomfortable. At one time I removed the uncomfortable chin-rests on all my violins and violas, but was concerned about ruining the instrument finish not using a chin-rest. I tried the Mulko Violin Part chin-rest and never looked back. The Mulko Violin Part chin-rest is very comfortable to where I now have that rest on all my wood violins and violas. The price of the Mulko Violin Part fluctuates all over the place. If you do an internet search for "Mulko Violin Part" you find the rest available for $6.95 plus shipping. Give the Mulko Violin Part chin-rest a try, I think you will like it.

A little disappointed on this replacement for the first one sent
The chin rest is pretty basic and would be easy to install...if it came with the tool as advertised. This one is brand new and not previously opened like the first I received/rated/returned. The cork feels good for the top piece (which is against the face) and on the long bottom piece (goes against the back). The tension adjusters are good except there is no tool to tighten them... I'm a bassist and bought a violin for dexterity and to hopefully add to my list of instruments that I play and record. Right now, I'm not fully satisfied with what I have but gave it 4 stars in case I am part of the problem. The last two pictures show that something like a paperclip can pass through the openings but I don't think that shouldn't be rigid enough to get the tension/torque needed. Apologies for a long rating but I'm trying to be as honest and helpful as possible.

Say goodbye to bad posture!
As a beginner who's teaching himself violin, I've been looking for a solution to improve posture while playing; I tried a shoulder rest, which hardly worked and was clumsy to install each time I decided to practice, until I found this chin rest recommended by the Online Violin and Piano Tutor (Check her out on youtube...she's amazing!). I wasn't expecting much, but decided for $12 it was worth trying, and I'm glad I did! My posture is very much improved, and it is much easier to play for longer periods of time without constantly having to stop and assess how I'm holding the instrument. Installation was a breeze on my 4/4 violin (it took a bit of tinkering to make it fit the edge perfectly, but check out the video I posted on my review if you find it doesn't quite fit on you instrument), and I would definitely recommend this product to anybody who can't quite get the hang of holding the violin. Would definitely buy again!

Questionable durability
Works fine out of the box but I have doubts about long-term use. Feels a bit fragile. We'll see how it holds up. Update if anything changes.

Comfortable and metal brackets ensure lasting security
After going through several chin rests we settled on this one. The metal brackets stand up to wear and tear and my son finds the chin rest much more conformable then the one that came with his school violin. Another chin rest we purchased from a supplier on Amazon, that had wood brackets to attach to the violin, broke after a few months. The metal will hold strong. My son also had trouble with chin rests that would dig into his neck. This one does not and it allows him to properly hold the violin.

Very noticeable improvement in comfort. Slightly overpriced here on Amazon.
Seems well made enough, the diamond texture does add hold-ability for myself as well. So it depends on your chin/jaw. The previous chin rest I was using that came with Cecilio CVN 300 dug into my jawbone, was unplayable, not just uncomfortable. Perhaps if one had more surface area on their jaw, they could get away with it. I haven't even bow this violin yet, trying to ensure I have the correct natural pose first. I'm glad I finally found it. Price wise, it could be $2 less, you'll be overpaying with $10 if you're unable to find this locally, various websites have this chin rest available for $6. ($8 total, 6 for item, 2 for shipping USPS First class package.)
