Not recommended. Take classes.
Too much computer jargon. Relies too heavily on the person having read the earlier pages. Pretty useless for a reference manual. The title should be "for PhD of computers" not "for Dummies.." I've done websites for years and was trained in an earlier version of dreamweaver but this is made ridiculously difficult. In defense of the Dummies company, Dreamweaver does give bizarre names to everything instead of calling it what it is. For example, they have a SPRY menu bar. Why can't they call it a nav bar? But more important, what Dummies needs to do is treat it like a nav bar instead of following the lead of Adobe. Jargon does not belong in a dummies book.

Excellent book
I am just getting started with this book, but I am very happy with the style and information. Many years ago I taught myself html with a Dummies book, and I was sure I could repeat the success with this one. I have not been disappointed.I am catching up on all the changes that have taken place in webpage design. I am pleased to have a grounding in the technology although I probably will not master all of it.The style is admirable. It is inviting as well as challenging. I don't feel intimidated, but I don't feel like the instructions or information are "dumbed down."Be sure to check out the author's website. The video on the fluid grid is excellent.Don't hesitate to contact the author with your questions or concerns. She answers email immediately and is gracious and helpful.

Ok, but nothing you can't find elsewhere online
This is an OK guide to Dreamweaver. Dreamweaver, and specifically responsive web design, is tricky, and frankly, I'm not finding any books that adequately provide the gotchas to the software. The biggest issue with Dreamweaver is how inconsistent the displays of its web pages are among various browsers. The basics are not that hard to find multiple sources for in books and online tutorials, but if I had known what I know now, I'd not even have purchased Dreamweaver (and I'm an html coder for over 15 years). If some of these manuals were more honest about the gotchas, it would have been much more helpful, and saved me time and money. The Seller was prompt with delivery, so no complaints to Seller.

I must be dumber than the average dummies
Because Dreamweaver is a complicated program meant for professional web designers I needed a book to understand it. This book helped a little but I still feel lost. The title suggests that this book will be apropriate for me but I guess Dummie is a relative term. This may be the simplest book on Dreamweaver. I will be checking out others to find out. I have learned that I should have done that in the first place to try to match my style of learning to the book's methods. I am not saying that the book doesn't do a good job at covering the subject. I suggest that potential buyers use Amazon's "Look Inside" feature to insure that it meets their needs.

Nope. Misses the learning mark.
This book is like a multitude of other software learning books. "Oh man, it's so easy! Just read along." Wrong. And as with so many other software learning books, the author spends so much time jumping around, you're guaranteed to be lost in a chapter or two. The really unfortunate thing is in that Adobe help is so lame you might as well keep this book around to see if you can find what you need.

Dreamweave CS6 for Dummies does not contain info on "fluid grid layout"
I would strongly suggest you purchase a different manual. I purchased this specifically to learn more about the "fluid grid layout" that was the most important feature of the new DW CS6 software. It was not even mentioned in this book except in fig 1-7 on page 27 in the "Welcome Page" where you can see that option listed. Since Google has stated that the way a web page looks best on a mobile device will help your ratings the use of a "fluid grid layout" is absolutely vital. The best thing I can say is that perhaps the author inadvertently left out that chapter. The title of this book should read "Partial Dreamweave CS6 for Dummies" I would advise you to purchase your manual from a different author.

Dreamweaver CS6 For Dummies a Dream
I have used other For Dummies books in the past and have always been amazed at how helpful they are. This book is no exception. It is well written and well organized. I had used Dreamweaver over 10 years ago and loved the program then. I am back into doing web sites for my family and got the latest version of Dreamweaver. I was overwhelmed by the advances in the program and realized I needed more help than Adobe offered. This book is the answer. I am able to start slow and build up a very solid basic understanding of the program and everything it offers. When I am done with the book I can go on to Adobe's documentation with a lot of confidence. Please be aware I am not criticizing or knocking Adobe's documentation but I needed to start back at square one and this is the place to start.

Great Review and Learner's Book!
Awesome book! Especially for the Dreamweaver beginner like me! I have gotten so use to working SharePoint Servers, (front and back end) developing and maintaining sites for all of our different subordinate locations and users that this was a good refresher to start me back off into the Web Design/development world. I love this book and how basic they always are for you to help you understand. Would definitely recommend this book to anyone who is interested.

Falling behind
I purchased the MX version of this book when I first started building websites and it was so helpful. Having just upgraded to CS6 I thought I'd get the CS6 version of the book. Given that the method of browsing the internet are now heavily weighted to the use of smart phones and tablets, I wanted CS6 so I could use it's new 'fluid grid layouts'. CS6 for Dummies doesn't have any guidance on this new feature, which is a major omission and very disappointing. The book is still a great help for anyone new to Dreamweaver but I feel it's not really keeping up with developments. Try the Adobe site for very helpful, FREE, lessons on fluid grid layouts.

Great book
Very helpful. I (along with a mate) volunteered to revamp a website for a wildlife group. Neither of us had much idea about website design and the vagaries of Dreamweaver (and the weight of the manual), were driving us to distraction! This book is easy to use, full of useful tips and instructions and helped enormously. To see the finished website - visit neebg.co.uk

Clear & easy to follow
I have bought a couple of these books for different applications and find them pretty concise and easy to follow. If you're trying to wade through Dreamweaver, you could do much worse than invest a few pounds in this publication. It walks you through the various processes in easy-to-understand detail.
