Then I gave a black satin Rust-Oleum coat to all the furniture. I’ve had my furniture close to 40 years and trust only Rust-Oleum to keep it protected and looking new.
Review: Great quality rust reformer spray paint - I have a used 40' foot Conex metal storage container that has lots of rust on it especially on the edges and needed a spray paint product which would help keep the rusted areas from getting any worse especially since this Conex cost me 5K. I am so glad I found this product which sprays over the rusted areas easily once I scraped off the excess rust with a paint scraper. It dries very quickly and has a flat black finish that can be easily painted over. I have used 6 cans of this product so far and have 3 more to go before all the rusted areas are treated with it. I then plan on painting the Conex with some Henry acrylic elastomeric bright white paint which should help keep the inside of the container cooler, since right now it is a dark blue color which gets incredibly hot inside. I am also installing 2 wind turbines on the roof to remove the hot air inside the Conex. I highly recommend this spray paint product to others who need to treat rusted areas on any metal surface before the damage gets any worse.

**Q: Can I use it to spray over rust without another coat? The original color is matt black, kinda like chalk paint.**
A: Yes BUT, it will NOT convert the rust. It will only cover it up and the rust will come back. There are products on the market that convert the rust into a hard black substance that will never rust again but this is not one of them by a long shot. Any flat black paint will do the same as this product will.

**Q: Will this stop the rust from spreading to different areas?**
A: Yes, If applied correctly it will "kill" the rust, thereby stop the spreading of rust. It will NOT stop other, surrounding, areas from rusting. Only properly treated areas will have protected, rust free metal. Top coating with a quality paint is essential.

**Q: Can I apply this product if its not rusting yet? I bought a exhaust system for my car & I wanna spray the welds to keep from rusting, will this work?**
A: It should work better than using the product after the rust starts.  It's more of a heavy primer than a rust reformer (in my experience).  However, you might want to look at Rust-Oleum's high temperature spray paints.  Some of them are made specifically for automotive use.

**Q: Is this also a primer? And can touchup paint be used on top of this? I had a small dent in my car and I removed the rust with coke. Do I still need this or should I get a primer instead?**
A: I would only use as primer on rusty metal surface. I would still use this on the auto dent to get any possible remaining rust. It turns rust in to a hard protective surface, then just paint over. It goes on milky green but turns dark brown when dried.

I used it to touch up on some miscellaneous parts on my Jeep. I bought the primer too, cause I wasn’t sure if I needed it or not, and you don’t with this stuff. I brushed off any surface rust with a wire brush, rinsed it off and let it dry. Then I hit it with two coats of this. It’s a high quality product. It dried super fast. It was super easy to use. I recommend pulling the can back a good distance and lightly coating it for smaller jobs cause it has good coverage and comes out pretty thick. That being said, a little goes a long way. I let it dry for a couple days cause I wasn’t in a hurry to put the parts back on, but I’m sure it would have been fully dry not even by the end of the first day. Its adhesion is impressive and there’s no chips or scrapes on the paint anywhere yet. Great product for the price.
