Essential text on echocardiography
Easy to read, with many illustrations, tables and diagrams, this is an excellent reference from which to learn echocardiography. The only limitations of the current edition is that it doesn't have the latest information on diastolic dysfunction or right-sided chamber (RA, RV) evaluation. These will need to be supplemented by viewing the guidelines from the American Society of Echocardiography (ASE). The ASE also has an excellent iPad/iPhone app which is quite useful for interpreting echocardiograms, especially when calculating various echocardiographic parameters.Oh's text continues to be one of the seminal texts on echocardiography. The real decision point is whether to obtain Oh's Echo Manual or Feigenbaum's Echocardiography. Feigenbaum's is more recent (published 2009 vs 2006 for Oh) and thus better reflects current guidelines and advances in technology. Feigenbaum's also has a nice DVD tutorial that accompanies the text. The only problem is that Feigenbaum is nearly twice as long as Oh's Echo Manual, making it a long read. If you are a busy trainee, with limited time for poring over texts, Oh's Manual is the way to go. If you have a research elective or need something to read while on vacation (those airline flights can be long), Feigenbaum's is the way to go.I obtained an amazing price for The Echo Manual, a brand-new text, via RepTextbooks a reseller on Amazon.

Great Echo Text
I have recently completed fellowship and have recently taken the cardiology boards.Over the last year I have used/borrowed the textbooks by Weyman, Feigenbaum, Otto, and have owned the most recent baby Otto. The Echo Manual is the best single source for a new cardiology fellow and for anyone studying for the Echo boards. The clarity, depth, and breadth in such are small package are not matched by any of the other books. It has excellent diagrams and tables. It does a great job of covering complex topics such as diastology, constriction vs restriction, and congenital heart disease. The Weyman is out of print. The big Otto is too big for board review. The baby Otto is too simple to be of help to fellows and techs. The Feigenbaum is a good book and it comes with a DVD of examples. However, the Echo Manual simply covers the topics better. It works great as a board-review book and just as great as a reference. If you only have room for one book in your budget, I would recommend this book.Cons: No DVD. Mayo displays the R and L heart in reverse of everyone else. Text can be dense. Overall, these are minor gripes.

The Echo Manual
I bought this book for the Cardiologists in my department. I am a division assistant for a medical center. I have no clinical background. I got this book to replace an outdated copy.. Same title/author, so the cardiologists prefer this manual.

Seven Years Old Edition, nothing new added
I am surprised as well as disappointed after reading this book " insidie Preface" as it is the same book which I bought and read well since 2007. I was expecting that , even if there is no 4th edition for last seven years, there must have been some new edition accordance with the novel development in the field of echocardiography. Rather, I tried to get e mail of the authors and publishers, to highlight this fact , as I understood, but couldn't.In conclusion, this might be as good a book as it tended to be in 2007, but not in 2014.Regards.

Gold standard introductory text
This is an ideal text for a general cardiology fellow. Just the right level of detail. Mayo way of displaying images can be a bit frustrating for those in other institutions that do not use the Mayo format.

Good echo manual
This is a very good echocardiography manual, well written, with clear pictures, good explanations on ultrasound physics and physiology. Very satisfied with purchase. The only minor caveat is that the author's technique is inverted from the one that we have in my institution, so images are inverted (left and right - Our images are more like in Otto's manual). This however is very minor, and I still would choose this manual.

非常に勉強になります
大変ですが実践的な本です。想像していた物より大きさはありますが、苦にはならないサイズです。
