With potential nuclear war and resultant civil unrest , the authors provide specific advice on how to survive the unthinkable.We’re lucky to have retired to a safe little part of the nation that’s not even worthy of a Russian nuke, so survival of the initial fallout and continuing our lives in the absence of power, water, sewage and supermarkets will be crucial IF the unthinkable happens.We appreciate our national leadership for inching us forward toward this mess , given that sensible alternatives and peace are available to those actually interested, as it seems as if our near peer adversaries do not seek Armageddon either.

This book is worth its weight in gold! Almost!If you are like I was, you might be thinking the price tag is quite expensive ($47).But you can buy a half-priced version at the author's personal website:[...]In fact I RECOMMENDED you do this not just for the price savings but also because if you buy his original $47, it is so poorly bound that the pages will start falling out of your book within the first week of taking it out of the package.I purchased the pdf version and then printed the pages most interesting on my printer and then saved these in a 3-ring binder for later review and discussion with my wife.I really like the author's suggested security procedures for the following:* ARMED INTRUSION at home, at night* ARMED INTRUSION during the day* SEXUAL ASSAULT* KIDNAPPING* MOBS and SOCIAL UNREST* UNJUSTIFIED OR ILLEGAL ATTACK BY GOVERNMENT AGENTS* FIRE* NUCLEAR WAR (Nuclear, Biological Or Chemical Attack)* EARTHQUAKES, TORNADOES, and STORMSI also liked the various floor plans that he provided in his book.However there were a few minor typos and spelling errors in this book:Page 95: "All he know.." should be "All he knows..."Page 107: How control is the area by big corporations or government bureaucracies?Perhaps this should be "How controlled...Page 107: "Get a chart the local school district" should be "Get a chart of the local school district"Page 110: "If your are retired..." should be "If you are retired..."P.S. This book pretty much covers everything you would want to know about building or converting an existing home to a secure home. Everything from how to build bullet resistant walls, to Emp protection on your power grid. Also in the back of the book, The author gives a wonderful products list so the reader can research some of these great products and ideas for him or herself.This is not a back to land book. It is not a "how to raise a goat" book. It is a book on how to protect yourself and family in your home from a variety of potential disasters whether natural, man made, or whatever else might come down your way.Everyone I know that has this book loves it!

alot of detail. plenty of info. but make sure you have deep pockets this is not for on the cheap off grid. goes into alot of detail measurements materials etc.

This book will give an overview of home building from the self sufficient/survivalist viewpoint. It also touches on discrete ways of construction. Also briefly mentioned is some desired features of secure locations and the author's criterion for them. He also covers some of his philosophy. My only complaint is that he writes from a STRONG Christian perspective, almost but not quite to the point of prosceletysing. I am not a christian and have had experiences that give me to doubt that a strongly Christian region is always a good thing. However, this does not otherwise detract from the book's value and the Christian jingoism is virtually pointed out and can be screened out.

This book is fabulously rich in detail, depth, graphics, and guidance. It is worth the price many times over, (do not compare it to the vapid fluff books out there, on that factor alone), and might turn out to be a bigger bargain than you would have thought.You can utilize this from groundbreaking on a new structure, through to incremental upgrades on you present home.End result will be attainment of your family's edge in dealing with a future that is changing fast, and proving to be far more challenging than most folks had envisioned for this point in time.

This book is very well written and covers topics well beyond my head. Lots of good information on remodeling and new construction. A good read even if you are not doing any of those things, if you are into preparedness.
