I have all sorts of fancy gadgets....vacuums, stick brooms, squeezes, a wide variety of dust mops etc. to clean my hardwood and tile floors. I often had to resort to using a dustpan and a hand broom to get the tiny pieces missed by these tools. I recalled the janitor at school using an industrial sized tool similar to this and wondered if they made smaller ones. Well after reading the reviews I took a chance and ordered one. I know it sounds crazy but I was really excited about getting one. It was delivered 15 minutes ago. I wasted no time in assembling it and putting it to use. I had been shredding lots of old documents and when I would empty the can into the trash, lots of the little pieces would blow around and scatter over the floor. It was a real pain to have to keep bending down and sweeping them up by hand. Well this thing worked like magic! I then tackled the room where the cat's litter box sits. If you are a cat owner you know how those tiny granules can get tracked all over your house despite putting down area rugs and kitty litter mats to catch the litter. I was concerned that people's feet would grind those particles like sand into my new hardwood floors and scratch them. In the past, I have had to drag out my heavy vacuum, put on the attachment brush (3 inches wide) and go over and over the area trying to vacuum ALL the particles. This handy tool took care of the matter in less than a minute. My back is grateful and my pets are grateful .(We all know how much cats and dogs love vacuums, right?) I have already ordered a second one for the room in which the litter box stays and as finances permit I will order one for every room that has an outside door. I find I am more likely to clean up a mess quickly if I don't have to spend 10 minutes assembling the tools to do so. Yes, occasionally it missed a tiny piece and I had to go back and sweep one more stroke, but even my fancy vacuums and dust mops did that (and missed much more). I don't remember when I have written such a glowing report. Unless you were to get a lemon (and that can happen with anything from cars to can openers) I don't think you will regret buying this. I would NOT recommend using it on a garage floor or other cement surface because first the bristles are very soft, hence safe to use on hardwood floors, and they wouldn't have the strength to cleanse a cement surface without damaging the bristles. For those instances, an old fashioned corn broom would be a better choice. Just FYI, I paid full price for this item and did NOT receive a complimentary one to get a good review. (Often wonder how people manage to get those complimentary items, LOL) P.S. Unless you weigh less than 80 pounds, I would NOT recommend standing on the dustpan like shown in some of the photos.) Review: Best broom ever - but only for 3 years - This is the best broom/dustpan combo I have ever used, no exaggeration. Something about the quality is just superior. It has one job, and it does it very well. The best part is that there is no remaining line of dirt/dust residue when you sweep into the dustpan - everything goes straight in there on the first brush. Also, the way it folds up and stores is very neat and easy. HOWEVER - after three years of use (not even daily use, more like weekly at the MOST), the flexible edge of the dustpan has deteriorated to the point that most of the dirt/dust I try to sweep does not make it into the pan, and instead gets swept underneath the pan, leaving a line of dirt that just refuses to be swept. Which is very annoying. And there's nothing I can do to compensate for this defect, so I'm just ordering a new one. Honestly, I'm no expert, but three years is probably an impressive lifespan for any broom. The first lasted the longest and that's b/c of it's two piece broom; height adjustable via a screw tightener on the lower outer sleeve. The accompanying dustpan had a single pole. This first pair had by far a classier look than the sectional poles utilized by both dustpan and broom. The build quality has definitely taken a hit as well. For these various reasons, one star is being docked. I wish I'd photos of the first set which I left with my roommate.
