This is a fantastic tool. I would imagine most people prior to buying one of these wonders, why would I ever buy this? Well I did some research and bought this 36" peavy after deciding between the 30" and 36" Hookeroons on the market. If you are 6 feet tall or more get the 36", I am just 6 foot and the length of the handle is perfect. Anything less and you are going to have to bend over which is exactly what this tool helps you avoid. This tool is light, easy to wield (even with my left hand as I am right handed) and saves a ton of time while getting wood out of a pile next to my splitter. I don't have to bend over to get the logs. I don't have to slow down. I can keep my hands away even more from the splitter. Rolling larger logs is surprisingly easy to keep the chainsaw out of the dirt. For the price, it saves me so much time I probably cut my splitter time by about 10-20%. Oh and I almost forgot, as sometimes a tree might get felled in a spot with a lot of Russian Olive, wild raspberry or other picky plants I can just impale a fairly decent sized log and drag it out of the area without tearing up my hands or forearms. If you cut more than a few trees down per year and cut them up for firewood, its a no brainer, buy it.

Excellent and a Back Saver!
This is light, strong and an excellent angled end tip. Grips and holds to drag or lift. Some concern with the neck unprotected as banged around but I am not concerned.Moving 12in and more logs around to split - even acts as a peavey to roll some of the "big boys".

POS
Not the head pictured. Absolutely crude workmanship! Handle grain absolutely wrong. Big uneven rasping of the handle to the head. For $110 you would expect better!Very disappointed!

Works really well
Head appears to be hand forged, it sticks into fresh cut hard wood logs quite well, far superior to their red painted version. Would be 5 stars but the fawns foot handle is not finished properly

Great log pick!
Light but strong, with just the right geometry on the head to grab a log or round with ease. I used this tool to move 20” log rounds to my splitter. No bending, lifting and the tool rarely slips off. A well made traditional tool.

The Oak & Madrone hardwood rounds I cut failed to get the point (pun intended)
I purchased this Hookeroon after viewing a couple of enthusiastic Youtube videos demonstrating the product. I tossed it on my truck yesterday and went to cut firewood with my adult son, planning to surprise him with this cool new tool. After a few rounds had been cut I pulled out the Peavey and proceeded to demonstrate its usefulness to my son.Whack!! went the Hookeroon - into the face of the 20" Oak round!! (bounce!! went the Hookeroon - barely leaving a mark on the round) Whack!! Whack!! (bounce!! bounce!). It was as if the wood was made of hard rubber and I was hitting it with a broomstick. My son was unimpressed to say the least. Then came the Madrone rounds: Whack!! Whack!! Whack!! (rinse and repeat - not even a dent - just bounced off). You should have seen it on YouTube! I exclaimed to my son. By then he was laughing very hard. "Perhaps we should make a YouTube of our own?", he said. Perhaps we will.Addendum: All kidding aside, the tool's point wasn't sharp enough out of the box to penetrate the hardwood. A problem that can be addressed with a couple minutes on a grinder. But, for my use the greater problem with this Hookeroon is that it's way too heavy and thus tiresome to use on a continuous basis. I bought it because of the extra long handle (I'm 6'3") thinking that I might need that extra long reach due to my height. Not true. The much shorter Fiskars Hookeroon that I bought at the same time has proven itself to be both much sharper and lighter but also less cumbersome than this much heavier, albeit, very sturdy Peavey. I've found myself grabbing the Fiskars tool nine times out of ten when it's time to manipulate big rounds or pick up split wood.

I am hooked on the Peavey Hookaroon - an awesome tool.
I am severely arthritic and this tool helps me get my cutting and stacking with less back strain. This tool bites well and holds well but releases easy enough. I actually enjoy working with this hookaroon and it is definitely worth the price. Awesome device.

I'm Older Than My Mother
I'm an old guy with a bad back that splits 10 cord/yr. The other reviews are right. No more lifting rounds from the pile, then lifting them up onto a splitter. This is the best tool going next to a chainsaw. And this particular hookeroon is extremely well made from the handle to the point. A little initial touch up and you're off. Great tool.
