We are pleased. Happy Youngster=Happy Daddy=Good Times!
Looking to upgrade from a toy bow to a real one for my child, siblings have bows, and I thought we could make this activity a good family bonding experience. My first bow was a Bear recurve from about 1960, next I had an off brand used compound that did not fit me at all. As a graduate gift one of my children I bought a Bear Compound brand new from a youth model being discontinued (Bear is constantly improving product line with functional beautiful results) my graduate turned to love the Bear Compound so much after almost five years this year decided to buy a new Bear Compound with an old style camo pattern he loves. Its a fantastic bow. The old bow was in great condition still, wanted a new one (Bear is always improving an all areas). This purchase for my youngest at 13 fits great and they can pull it back with effort though, I'm not sure if a six year old could pull it back, but regardless they will grow into it. With exercise they will shoot in no time I'm sure. If they can't pull back they will do push-ups every day until they can I'm willing to bet..I was worried it would be too light of a draw weight, but its perfect! Also it looks awesome, and the feel is just as impressive. The finger rollers are great, another purchase of a hand release or a shooting three finger bow glove wasn't required. It feels good , the release is smooth, and shoots fantastic. Came with goodies we were not expecting like a arm shield for the arm so the string doesn't "slap" the arm, that was a cool prize, and the targets and two arrows that come with are awesome. Just a fantastic deal to have everything ready to rock and roll. No bother with constant adjustments, no worry with safety concerns with a bad product. Bear bows are meant to last a lifetime, and they do. This is a great real bow for the beginner. I want one for myself. Since I've had Osteo Degenerative Joint Disease I can no longer shoot bows, but I bet I could this one. Great reason to make outdoors fun for everyone. I love this bow for all the right reasons. Price was at the last of my reasons for loving this bow. However there is no purchase I can think of that will be more appropriatly used, and valued by the young girl or boy who receives such a fantastic gift. The best $37 with shipping, and all that (if you don't have free shipping) I have spent, I can't even remember the last time I found something better certainly not even close to that price range. Be real with expectations, fireworks, and a band isn't going to pop put of the box. Just be real with normal expectations, and you will be happy. Bear has such a great history of the best in archery constantly making things that a user can be proficient, and self self efficient. Most bows a person needs to go to a bow shop every year to get things tuned up- --draw weight taken up or down,.not this gem. This is free of any adjustments or services from day one! No regular bow shop tune ups required. Just enjoy. Be smart, shoot safe, teach, and practice safety, and have a blast! I know we will.

It's a great bow for the little ones.
My 4yr old kiddo loves this thing. He doesn't quite have the strength to pull it back all the way, but it's helping him get the mechanics of shooting down. He did try to pull it back all the way, it slipped and twanged his ear. It looked pretty gnarly for a little while but ice helped that.Others were saying that it's not actually ambidextrous, and it isn't...out of the box. You have to remove the braces and flip them. My son is right handed, so it works for him, but me being a lefty, I had to switch it to show him what to do. So if whoever you're getting this for is left handed, it will absolutely work, just needs an easy modification, no tools required. As a beginner bow though, defiantly worth the money.

Good bow crap accessories
The bow is surprisingly well. We bought one of these for each of my sons and they've been shooting them almost every day since Christmas. They've dropped them a few times and shot them countless times, the bow seems to be really well made. The arrows that come with it are not matched to the bow at all and don't shoot very well but with some 1400 spine Eastons, they're shooting great! The quiver is just there so they can say they included it. Overall I'm pretty impressed with this for the price point; my expectations were low but I've been more than satisfied with the bow.

Perfect next step for 7-yr old
Kid has been using a toy, suction cup set since he was 4. We decided to make the next move as he turned 7 with this set. It's perfect and I have no complaints. Sturdy, professional, yet safe and easy to use. We ordered extra arrows of same size since this set only comes with two. After giving him some brief tutorial about safety/how-to, he's taken to it naturally and is becoming a somewhat responsible and accurate little archer. And now we can repurpose all the Amazon cardboard before recycling.

I was impressed that the draw weight was a good compromise of effort and power
I bought this to introduce the grand kids (5 & 7) to archery. I used the big box Amazon shipped it in for a target at a distance of about 8 feet. I was impressed that the draw weight was a good compromise of effort and power, and the length was good for both kids. They could both operate the bow, but did not have the patience to improve their skills. The adults thought the bow was great, but the grand kids were just not that into it - the iPad generation. I was also impressed with the arrow vanes - tough enough to go completely through the cardboard box multiple times with only moderate wear. The arrow 'points' are rounded for safety, but this combo does pack a punch - definitely NOT a toy.

Bow set
Awesome for kids. Growing up my sisters and I bought similar sets. Now as adults are still going strong with full size bows. It’s such a great idea to give as a gift too!

Buy other arrows to go with this bow
The bow is a great beginner compound bow. I have two daughters, aged 8 & 9. They also have the Barnett Lil Sioux recurve bows which they’ve gotten quite good with. Wanted them to start getting the feel of a compound. The draw weight and construction of the bow itself is good. The arrows do not fly true off of this bow, so any distance great than about 10’ off your target results in wild inaccuracies. However, the arrows do nock into the string well at all. This makes for an awkward shot as you have to pinch the back of the arrow in as you shoot. Additionally, the plastic arrow nock broke after two shots. Arrow rest and sight must be installed by consumer. These bows are good for supervised play and for my girls to get used to the feel of pulling a compound bow.
