The Forest

Quiet all the noises of the day
If your legs don’t work well, if you’re tired, if you’re ill, you may lose hope. You may feel as if you can never wander into the forest again. But you can. How can I describe the most strange and alluring book The Forest? It is like you’re in a spell, exploring the trees alone, then with others. You keep walking. There are blank pages to quiet you in the right places, and die-cuts so you can see but only partially . . . for how can you see everything? You keep going. Something keeps drawing you forward and in the end, there is mystery and silence. You will want to start over again. I think this book is for anyone, child or adult, who might be captivated by a walk in the woods, a place of wonder and awareness. Lovely!

beautiful piece of art
this is a beautiful piece of art. while the message is simple, it's not meant for preschool-3rd grade kids. this book is beautifully made and needs to be treated accordingly. the cover is wonderful as are the pages inside. each page is thick and almost every page has been embossed. i may be gifting a copy of this to a 10 year old girl who is drawn to all things art and i think that she is at an age where the book would be well tended and also appreciated. that said, this book would also be hugely appreciated by anyone older than 10, especially adults. i'm keeping this first copy for myself!

We are never alone in our journey.
This wonderful book is a metaphor for living life with curiosity, perserverance and awe. The message is eternal and hopeful. As a Child Psychologist who loves nature, it resonated both through the written words and the lush, beautiful illustrations. I loved this book and will share it with adults and children I know. Such a fortunate find! Thank you to the author and artists involved in this sumptuous, creative, awe-inspiring work.

Not for 4 year old children
A very beautiful and original book, but there is no way that a 4 year old child would get this book. This is more for an older child who appreciates looking at beautiful pictures and paper art.

Creative and Inspiring (Even for Adults)
This book is amazing. Creative, colorful, imaginative. The story is wonderful and the artwork unique. As a parenting reading to a kid, this is my favorite.

A work of art with a message!
This book is a work of art. The cover, the pages, the illustrations, the embossing, the die cuts, there is so much to appreciate! I have read it several times already, and I see something new each time. And the message is beautiful!

Wow! Just wow.
Bought this as a gift for my 7 y/o niece. My sister loves it just as much as her. Beautiful and timeless.

Not for young children
Speaking as a school librarian, be careful! This is a wonderfully, beautifully illustrated book, but it is not - by vocabulary, by number of pages, or by concept - a book for young children. I would say this is a book for ages 10 and up.
