## Description

LANDMAN: SEASON ONE - DVD - Set in the proverbial boomtown of West Texas, Landman is a modern-day tale of fortune seeking in the world of oil rigs. The series is an upstairs/downstairs story of roughnecks and wildcat billionaires fueling a boom so big, it's reshaping our climate, our economy and our geopolitics. Landman: Season One includes over 85 minutes of content with exclusive cast and crew interviews. Explore the contrasting dynamics of Tommy (Billy Bob Thornton) and Angela's (Ali Larter) fiery relationship vs. Cami (Demi Moore) and Monty's (Jon Hamm) polished power couple. Experience the intense stunts and action sequences that brought the show's explosive production to life. Plus, get an inside look at how Taylor Sheridan's vision, inspired by the "Boomtown" podcast, came to life on set. Ali Larter, Michelle Randolph, Paulina Chavez, and Demi Moore co-star. 10 episodes on 3 discs. 8 2/3 hours

Review: This show makes you want to yank the dolar panel off your roof, haha - This is a great series to binge, and it has it all: excellent character development, lots of drama and action, rich and working class, all of the conflicts and similaririties of both. In between, stands the Landman, who bears the brunt of and straddles that divide. There's great and authentic acting by everyone in this show. I loved this show so much, I started a sub for Paramount+ so I could continue watching it. Having worked in an oil refinery myself, this does seem very accurate in its portrayal of the wild goings-on in the oil patch (note to the fantastic Billy Bob: usually, turning a valve to the right will clise it). Having Ali Larter's and her daughter's characters thrown into the mix, really adds a lot of flavor (and fun!) to the mix. I highly recommend this show!!!
Review: Excellent Propaganda - Landman is a series written by a man, mainly for men, about men working in the West Texas oil industry. I'll narrow it down further: it's a series best suited to absolutely delight red state oil men in their 60s and older. Overall, it's entertaining and mostly fast-paced. Billy Bob Thornton proves once again that his charisma and outstanding talent can elevate any project. Jacob Lofland is flawless. Ali Larter and Michelle Randolph must have understood that their lengthy screen roles as 'dumb blonde bimbos' were meant to try to revive and justify a decades-old, degrading female stereotype. Certainly, a lot of screen time was used up having the camera aimed at their female body parts. As well, their inexplicable, contrived scenes with the nursing home residents are beyond cringeworthy. I don't know why these two, reportedly very intelligent, women agreed to their roles, but that was their choice. The series somewhat sympathetically shows who, as it historically has always been, is in charge -- a small number of ultra-wealthy, aging white men who want to maintain their power over others. Especially true in Texas. This isn't a judgment; it's just how things are. I'm a lifelong Texan. Lived near Midland for 20 years before moving to a Texas metro area that is supposed to be safer for women. Sheridan's writing does seem to perpetuate various outdated negative stereotypes, but I don't think it's due to lazy writing. More likely, it is intentional. Whether or not the fossil fuel industry is funding this series, it's still worth watching to see Billy Bob Thornton set loose to do what he does best.
