He had no trouble with it and loved holding the bottle on his own by the handles. The suction speed is just right for him. The parts come apart easily for easy cleaning. I put all the pieces in the dishwasher including the straw. The inner straw is made of silicone too and it's weighted on the bottom just enough that it drops towards the bottom to make it easy for my tot to drink. It is spill proof in my bag but droplets from the top part will splash out if your toddler likes to bang the straw against the table (don't they all!). So for that reason, I only use it for water, not milk.I wish they also made this in a stainless steel bottle so there could be a plastic free version. It's so hard to find straw cups out there where the inner straw is silicone rather than plastic! Almost all the cups only have the outer straw section as silicone and the inner straw is plastic.
