Statistics, Third Edition

worked fine
The book did not match the picture. It was not the third edition. However, all of the information was the same. The only difference between editions is a few differences between problems. if you have graded homework assignments, I would suggest the right edition. Other than that, the condition was fabulous and I'm enjoying the stats books as much as is possible...because it's, well, a stats book.

Good book for a friend but it's a bit more ...
Good book for a friend but it's a bit more damaged than expected and worn. Still happy but docked star for that

Math can be fun! :-)
I generally agree with what others are saying. What's so unique about this book is that... get this: you'll get one of those rare math textbooks that are *fun* to read. Well... in a nerdy sense. I wish it was updated more recently though, because most of the samples use data back from 70s or early 90s at best, which, of course, does not make the book less correct or helpful.I am re-learning some of my school classes (graduated with BS in Applied Math in 98) and I wish I saw this book when I took statistics back in college.

great price and did job required
I got this edition because it was much better price than newer edition and it worked out fine. Page numbers matched the newer edition.

Don't Ask Alice
I'm not sure what book Alice read, but I find it hard to believe it was this one.I won't bother repeating what so many others have said in other reviews, as I find them to be in alignment with my own opinion. However, I find Alice's review puzzling. How can so many other reviewers find this book to be so helpful, yet an instructor of the topic found it difficult to use as a course text? I actually feel like we read different books, as her description doesn't agree with my experience.

Great book, covers a wide span of the subject
I bought this book to teach myself statistics theory. It's a great text. It's organized in a way that did allow me to self educate on the subject. It covers everything and the explanations are good enough that you don't need a professor to lead you along. There is a sample course flow chart which I followed and it was very effective.Very recommended for anyone looking for a introductory text to statistics.

One Star
The class was so difficult, and the book did not help. At least it included answers to some problems.

I love this book
This book is one of the best textbooks I have ever seen. It explains concepts and intuition instead of focussing on fancy formulas. I truly recommend it to any student of statistics. It is a lot of fun to work through it.
