Progressive International ProKeeper Butter Container (White, Single)

I'd say this is best butter dish ever. . . except, removing the lid can be a bit challenging as the stick of butter gets smaller. I bought two of these & love them completely. The gauge for sizing tablespoon/teaspoon more or less is very handy. The lid stays on well. The whole dish is very attractive!However, when I've used about half a stick of butter, I have more trouble getting the lid off. It takes actually picking up butter dish, with one hand holding the top & one holding the bottom I have to physically separate the top from the bottom. It comes apart pretty easy but it does take conscious thought & stop to pay attention to remove the lid without the butter sliding. It has a little bit of a seal that you can feel give way when you hold the top in one hand & bottom of the butter dish in the other hand.It's very clever how it seals without a latch or catch that I can see. Really a bit of a marvel! But when I'm cooking and I reach for the dish to scoop a teaspoon or so into vegetables or such I have to stop. Remember to think about this dish and use two hands before I pick it up. You don't want to tilt the dish because the soft butter will slide. It's maybe a little counter intuitive. Most of us don't pick up the whole butter dish to get a pat of butter while you are cooking. You simply lift the lid, slide your knife and put the dollop of butter into the other dish or pan all with one hand, while you're stirring something with the other hand. It's how I learned to cook.This clever seal that keeps the butter fresher, needs two hands for one little task and is new to me. But I really love the dish! It's better, keeps the butter very fresh and you can tell at a glance,tsp, TBS (teaspoon,Tablespoon) due to the discrete markings how much butter you're using. It's lightweight and the tray of the dish is reversible. You can use either side. One side has the markings for amounts, while the other side is a bit deeper so would allow for a bit of melt off from the butter (in warmer weather) to stay in the dish. Well engineered! Bravo! I am in the process of retraining my brain to use two hands to remove the lid. After 70 it gets harder to make these little changes.

I bought this because I'm making my own butter sticks and needed a dish to keep it in. This dish is plastic but it is sturdy and well made. There is a bit of rubber around the edge so the top fits on snuggly. It's a simple design and works perfectly for what I need.

This butter dish holds a stick of East coast very well.I don't have any problem with getting the lid off or on.And when I pick it up, there's so problem with the lid staying securely on.However, I also take the precaution of grabbing the whole thing, including the bottom.I have room temp butter on a shelf, so it spreads easily.Getting it off with one hand requires grabbing the butter dish over the top of the lid, while holding the bottom. And then gently pushing down on the edge of the dish. Don't use a lot of force or you might lose control of the bottom half. Practice a couple of times before doing it with butter inside. And I do take the wrapper off the butter. And if the butter wants to leave a lot of itself on the wrapper, stick the while thing in the freezer for a few minutes, just to firm up the nearly liquid butter. (I'm in the south with no a/c)

This was an excellent container until I put it in the dishwasher. The parts came out looking good but they no longer fit together. It was a snug fit to begin with but that was okay as it kept the butter fresh, but after the dishwasher shrank the top they would not fit together. HINT FROM ANOTHER REVIEWER- who discovered you can flip the bottom over and the shrunken lid will fit. Lo and behold that worked!!! Both sides have gasket material and it looks just fine on whichever side you use.

This is a nice, good basic butter dish and fits both size sticks of butter. Washed it in the dishwasher (top rack) before first use and did not have any issues with warping. It also has a good seal and is perfect size for area in my refrigerator outer door.

Works well, keeps my butter fresh.

I was looking for an everyday butter dish, easy right? I've spent the last decade trying to find a basic well made butter dish. I can't tell you how many I've purchased. I've gone the butter bell water route which is messy and sometimes the butter falls into the water. I tried glass but the glass was heavy and there was no seal, and even had one made of silicone - flexible butter dishes, a truly stupid idea! I've also had countless plastic dishes which were either ugly, had no seal and/or were colors that I couldn't live with. All wound up in the trash.This one is attractive (for plastic) and is a neutral color - white. It is a HIGH QUALITY durable plastic, not cheap junk. The best part is the seal, it seals tight. Some have commented that it can be difficult to remove the lid. The first time I used it, it took a few minutes to figure it out. Now it comes off immediately by just placing your fingernail where the two edges meet on either or the long sides. It pops right off.I'm tempted to buy another "just in case" spare. I'm really enjoying it. As one person mentioned already, there is one small flaw. The dish has both tsp and tbsp markings on either side however, they are both labeled tbsp. It's pretty obvious which is tsp and which is tbsp so this is not a deal breaker for me although, I hope the company corrects this flaw.I highly recommend this product.
