CACTUS: Cactus, the common name for a family of desert plants. The plural is cacti or cactuses. Most species bear sharp, needlelike spines, which protect the plants from foraging desert animals. Cacti are famed for their ability to resist drought, which they owe to the fact that moisture from inside the plant evaporates very slowly through the plant's skin. Cacti grow in hundreds of different shapes. The fibrous, juicy stems may be globular, cylindrical, branched, trailing and vinelike, ribbed, grooved, or knob-bearing. Only two species have true leaves. The rest of the 2,000 species are leafless. Common name: "Pencil Cactus" or "Milk Bush". Latin name: Euphorbia tirucalli Native to: Tropical South and East Africa. Growth habit: A woody, columnar upright bush. This plant can grow as tall as it's interior environment allows. Temps: Normal indoor temperatures. Cultural information: "Pencil Cactus" are a bizarre looking plant who's sap is poisonous. "Pencil Cactus" are quite easy to grow if placed in direct sunshine or very bright indirect light. Water sparingly maybe twice a month... allowing most of the soil mass to dry out. Feed monthly, spring through fall. When your plant becomes to tall, cut it back to the desired height. Wear gloves and a long sleeve shirt when pruning "Pencil Cactus". The sap may cause skin irritation. Be careful not to get the sap in your eyes.

As a lifetime horticulturist - I feel my review might add some credibility here. As such, I feel compelled to leave a well-deserved POSITIVE review on my purchase of this little Pencil Cactus. It arrived earlier than I expected, very carefully packed, and extremely healthy with the perfect size for the 4" size pot it came in. Part of my background includes nursery production, so I know a healthy plant when I see one so kudos and much respect to all involved in this endeavour. Happy Gardening and thank you!

So far, so good! I received my pencil cactus today (four days after I ordered it), very well packaged, moist soil and in great 👍 shape. I am impressed. It came with clear instructions on caring for my new plant family member. The two cacti are 9" in height ( I measured). I am hopeful this pencil will survive and grow well due to the apparent care and successful shipping. Will update in the future only if I experience a downturn in the life of my plant, but I really don't anticipate any issues due to the great start.UPDATE: Repeat Customer Aug. 2021 - Back Again to add to the 1st plant I purchased last year that has been a successful and beautiful pencil cactus plant. I was a novice with succulents, so I studied about this variety regarding care and growth. I LOVE my whole experience with this vendor on Amazon. Excellent customer service. I received a well established healthy live potted plant in a little pot. Extremely well protected during shipment. You can tell this business cares a lot for customer satisfaction. Some red growth (fire!!!). Trying to post a new photo today showing both plants in one pot, but, that capability is not functioning for me today. Will attempt at a later date. So happy! So grateful to have such a pleasant and successful transaction!

Very cool plant with zero damage in transit.
I had never gotten a living plant through the mail before, so I wasn't sure what to expect. I was impressed! This plant was carefully packaged and came through delivery with zero damage, healthy and ready to repot. It seems to be happy enough in its new environment and has already started to sprout new branches. Thank you!
