Upgrade for older motherboards.
If you have an older motherboard that need more SATA ports and faster, this is for you. Sturdy construction. Fits it mother cases.

Works as far as I can tell.
This device is interesting. The controller is actually an ' Asmedia ASM 106x' and does /report/ that it runs at SATA III speeds. When the computer boots it lists the drives attached and which SATA mode they're connected in (AHCI/IDE and SATA version).I don't know if the drives actually /run/ at SATA III speeds, but so far have no reason not to believe it.My computer runs Windows 10 and I did not have to download any firmware or flash the controller's BIOS.

Couldn't solve the problem.
I wanted to add some hdd/ssd on my media server running Windows 10. I'm using an old motherboard (Gigabytes g31m-es2l). It is well recognized and the driver was set automatically, if there's no hdd/ssd is connected. However, with hdd/ssd connected to this card, the Windows won't boot. It just stuck at the logo screen. I have to boot the machine without connecting the sata cables, and connect them after the boot, which I don't feel safe at all. This company doesn't really have any website or any support page. This thing may work for some people, but it is not perfect for me at all.

Card functions, slow SATA Speeds
This PCIe 2.0 1x to Sata 2 port card works as intended, but the speeds are lower than advertised. While a single PCIe 2.0 lane should be able to handle 500MB/s up & downs, this card was maxing out at ~350MB/s transfers. For hard drives this is totally fine & I would recommend this card however im using a much faster SSD. The SSD im using when on a built in Sata 6gbs port gets upto speeds as high as 530MB/s so this card was really bottlenecking it. However this card did let me boot to windows & help me get my server working as the built in Sata ports where not working so I thank it for that.To reiterate: If you have a few hard drives this card should be fine as they usually cap out at about 100-130MB/s each, however if you have anything faster, like an SSD, I recommend something else.

A large computer component blocking a few SATA ports? Get a set of new ones!
Over a month ago, I bought a new graphics card for my computer. But it was so large that it blocks the motherboard's default SATA ports that are necessary for connecting one of my hard drives. I searched online for a way to resolve the issue and came across this PCI express card containing two additional SATA ports. So I ordered it, installed it in the PCI-E port above the graphics card port, and connected one of the SATA hard drive cables to it after installing the graphics card. It has been over a month since then and this adaptor is doing it's job of keeping my hard drives connected in order to compensate for the 'loss' of the original SATA ports blocked by my new graphics card due to its large size. I would say that this is an ideal solution for when a large computer component ends up blocking a few SATA ports necessary for using something essential like a hard drive.

Works as aadvertised
I am currently using a 3 tb drive, and a dvd drive off this card, and no issues. I can still use the Dvd drive, as a boot drive. (My bios sees both drives connected to this card)Only thing I noticed, is there is a new post screen for the card, so it add's 3-4 seconds to the overall boot time. I have had other cards, that are complete junk. This one does what it says it should do

This card is (writing speed 271MB/s) slower than my integrated SATA II (writing speed 282.1 MB/s)
I have a new Samsung 860 PRO 256GB 2.5 Inch SATA III Internal SSD, this is connected to the integrated SATA II (3GB) in my PC, I wanted to upgrade to SATA III (6 GB) with this card, unfortunately this card is slower (writing speed 271MB/second) than my current integrated SATA II (282.1 MB/s), (tested with benchmark software). This card may work better in an older system that does not have SATA technology or with SATA I but not in my case, I tested it in several PCI e ports but I could not get better results. If you want to use this card and you already have integrated SATA do not forget to disable in the BIOS your integrated SATA "BEFORE" you connect this card in your motherboard.

Works as expected, does not include low-profile bracket
I'm not sure what the point of designing a half-height card is if they're only going to include the full-height bracket, so that's why I docked 1 star on the review, but otherwise this card is working as expected to boot from an OCZ Agility 4 SSD.
