I wanted to order something to honor Ukraine, so when I ran across this, I knew it was just what I wanted. The wool construction should be durable and long-lasting. I really love the intricate design that is woven into it, and it is a great conversation starter! Although it's a "sauna hat," I use it in the garden and while mowing, since it does a great job of keeping the sun off my head and out of my eyes. It fits comfortably, and I love the funky look! It even has a handy loop inside for hanging it up on a hook.

First of all, let me explain the point of sauna hats: It may sound counter-intuitive, but sauna hats are meant to keep your head cool, not warm. The felt of the hat acts as insulation when you're in a tiny room approaching 200 degrees F, and it prevents you from overheating. This is a good sauna hat. I ordered it for my brother who has a small Finnish sauna and he needed more sauna hats for family and guests. He used it right away and said it worked great, was well-made, and also had an attractive pattern. Try these hats if you visit saunas a lot -- it definitely makes a difference.

I recently started using the sauna as a means of relaxation and detoxification. I noticed that a few people would wear these funny looking cone hats in the sauna, so I asked why. Decided to try it out myself. First off, these wool hats really do keep your head cooler, which allows you to stay in the sauna longer. Second, I love the style and design of this particular hat. Unlike the weird cone style hats, this one actually looks rather normal. Plus it is very well made and big enough to fit larger heads without being too big for smaller heads. The wool feels like a thick, soft felt but its sturdy enough to keep its shape. I think this is a great hat, especially at this price point. Highly recommend!

seems to be very nice quality sauna hat - no loose threads, perfect stitching decoration and surprisingly comfortable and soft! Note that the decorative stitching is only on the front of the cap - the back is just a plain white band with no stitching. The cap is large enough to fit comfortably on my head without squishing my hair too much. I like that it has the traditional Ukrainian stitching on the front of the band - a nice touch merging old ways and modern times.looking forward to trying it out at the spa sauna soon! I think it would be suitable as a regular hat if you wanted - it is the standard 'bucket' style hat. I bet it will also be great in the hot summer to keep head cool.

Super soft, firm, and beautiful sauna hat. Waterproof and keeps the heat out of my hair and prevents overheating. Fits average adult head, not too large or too small. Functions as intended. I am glad to support Ukrainian embroidery

Want to aid Ukraine? Buying Ukrainian goods is a way in addition to financial aid to relief agencies. The embroidery doesn't go all the way around, but so what? Just FYI. Quality workmanship. Very thick wool. Don't have a sauna to wear it in? Neither do I! But having been in the Arctic Circle recently, I know the power of wool. And synthetic fibers are hurting our Eco-systems. This is warm and Eco-friendly.

I find it actually allows me to easily extend my sauna time from 10 minutes to 15! I do rounds of cold showers between 15 mins of sauna, and my cold wet hair doesn't negatively affect the felt. I like the attractive design with the 2-tone wool felt. I had hoped for more of a substantial embroidery design; it's machine stitched & wraps 2/3rds around the front of the hat... I wish it extended all the way around, esp since they only used 1-thread, not 2-3 like most embroidered accents have. Because this, it looks like a cheap after thought. If they at least extend it all the way around, it would look better & I wouldn't have to constantly worry about if my hat is on centered each time I come & go from the gym sauna.A word of CAUTION: When I first received this it was stiff & smelly. It seemed like it needed a QUICK hand wash (no submerging wool felted items- they may come apart). I was surprised to see most of these fibers aren't intertwined & "felted" into place. This hat's felt is some wool felted, but a LOT of smaller white hairs that are pressed into place, and with a swoosh of water started coming off & sticking to my hands & arms (itchy). I'm not sure what all animal hair is in this, but it's not 100% wool... the short white straight hairs are disconcerting (dog, rat, maybe a goat?), and don't curl or felt like wool. With just a few swipes of water next to my sink (didn't even pour water directly on it), it felt like it was coming apart in my hands. I immediately put a towel on my clothes drier, set the hat on it, and ran laundry so the secondary heat from the dryer would dry it without it coming apart from tumbling. It did dry nicely, but lost enough fibers in the top seam that there's now a finger sized hole. It lays flat against itself when I wear it, so it's not big enough for heat transfer when in use. Just be VERY CAREFUL rinsing it when you receive it. I wasn't looking forward to wearing it after that experience- because I DO have wet hair in sauna & didn't want a bunch of fur sticking to my head, neck, & shoulders. Fortunately, this hat's felt exceeded my expectations & doesn't noticeably shed in use (or the hair rinses off easily & I don't notice). Because of these issues, I question the longevity of this hat.Hat functionality: It works great, just as described! As I mentioned, my sauna time & heat tolerance has expanded! 👍 The hat is large enough it fits comfortably. 👍 If I want to tip the front upwards (to better see beyond the bucket brim), I can easily fold the brim up in the back. 👍 For an effective sauna wool hat for under $20, I do feel like this is a decent value... just beware of the need for incredibly gentle hand washing (more than most quality felts).
