Bandai Hobby HGUC 1/144#40 ZAKU II Mobile Suit Gundam Model Kit

Let's begin with how surprised I was when I was building this figure. The figure alone is quite larger than I thought it would be since I thought it would be much smaller and more simplistic but actually took around two hours to build despite only having one sticker to put on which was the eye!Pros: Great design, very sturdy, nice green just like on the box, many accessories, can hold all the weapons at the same time, and is quite large!Cons: difficult to pull down the latch on the back for the bazooka, not a whole lot of detail, lack of posing (hard to pose due to its sturdiness) and difficult to move the mono eye.Overall, the set has one sticker, tons of guns including the bazooka I mentioned earlier, a machine gun, a heat saber, and two ankle rockets each with three rockets. It also has a large spike shoulder pad and then a large long shoulder pad making this Zaku look extra up armored and tough. I also like the little things they put on such as boosters on the feet and all the pipes and little designs on the weapons and just all around the figure like the trigger finger hand you can switch out for the normal hands (closed hands).If you are new to Gundam building, you will have a blast with some slight difficult parts like getting the eye just right or just getting the pipes exactly how you want them. The reason for five stars is because of the fact this set is almost as large as my age 1 titus the figure (the red and blue Gundam on his right) which is ridicuolously awesome. Plus his guns are enourmous compared to average Gundam figures almost matching my Banshee Unicorn Gundam but the Zaku can hold them extremely easy making it easy to do some simple poses with any of the weapons you choose. Overall, if you just want a quality Gundam for a very fair price, this is the perfect set and you should since this is one of the most notorious suits being the Zeon's finest and deserves a place on everyone's shelf due to its fantastic design! Look at the pictures I posted for size, this guy is pretty epic!

This kit was great! I have not made a gunpla in 15 years and this was great way to get back into gunpla! Easy to follow instructions even though it was in Japanese. Finished Zaku looks awsome ! Great for a first timer or just a good way to kill about 2 hours.

This kit is the definition of a beginner's trial kit. I originally bought a Zaku II kit that was only like 5 dollars before and it turns out to be a really old kit with only green plastic and then I realized what I did wrong. It wasn't the HGUC kit that I was looking for, which was this one. And boy am I glad I got this kit. This is the 4th model kit I have made and it's honestly one of the best gunpla to buy for beginners.The kit was very easy to put together. The parts fit relatively good and the final results are good (mind you, I don't really sand down the leftover cuts from the frame because I honestly don't care too much and I'm scared to make things look worst , but if you like more refined looks, sand/cut down the nub marks to make that boi look good.). This kit comes with 5 different accessories and with everything on the kit, it makes this mobile suit into a true soldier class fighter.The only real complaint I have and this may not happen to you or others, but the right leg on my Zaku got a little bit loose and it's only been a few days. Maybe I rubbed the plastic a bit weird or something, but do be careful of that happening. In general, this kit is a simple and awesome starter choice for gunpla building.

This kit is one of the early HGUC kits so has the problem they tend to have, Lots of seam lines, weak articulation, finicky mono eye movement. However if you are willing to put some work in to fill and sand the seam lines the kit will look great next to even newer Zaku II's. Also this kit and the Char variant are the most accurate to how they looked in the original show which can be a plus or minus to some. If you like the panel lines of the later Zaku's you will be disappointed and feel that this one is very plain. The Zaku comes with a good range of accessories that can all be stored on the suit which i always view as a plus, however the leg missile pods are only held on by friction can become lose easily. While I still think this is a great kit I would not recommend it so someone who is just starting out in Gunpla due to the seam line removal which does take some time to do fully but if someone has a few kits under their belt and want to move up to finishing and painting kits this is a good one to work on.

I think that is a very good buy, definitely for how cheap it is.It is a very solid build and easy to customize, I painted mine black and red with decals used from a Warhammer game set and made it look battle worn without a problem, definitely a five star.

It’s a pretty good kit with great detail although the articulation is limited but for 2003 revolutionary so all in all really good

Great for beginners. Easy to follow instructions, even though they are in Japanese. You can just follow the pictures and match the part with the corresponding numbers. I penned some of the lines on, as well the the black on the hand/coils(all green in the box). The pieces don't require paint and still looks good with out anything added.

This was my first Bandai model after previously putting together a cheap Chinese Danban knockoff. The quality of the genuine Bandai model is much better with almost zero flash and with the sprue connections minimised so that you can cleanly snip the model parts out from the runners. No glue is required and it snaps together perfectly with a few hours of dedicated effort. I chose this one as it's looks are more 'cool robot / mech suit' than 'over the top Gundam flashiness'. For such a small model the articulation still allows it to be quite posable. I've not decided whether I'll try painting him yet. He looks good straight from the box (see picture) and with my first attempt at panel lining looks even better. He also comes with some spare hands so he can hold his weapons properly if you want to swap his look over. Overall a fun model to build that can be posed easily.

I never had a Gunpla kit, so I was a bit surprised when I opened the box and saw one could simply click the whole model together.The parts are cast from plastic in the right color, end even the Zaku's eye is already colored, so one could assemble the model with minimal hassle in no time, no painting or gluing needed.Only the edges show some mild signs of the castinng process, but a knife and some love with sandpaper will remedy this in no time.The Detail is quite nice, and designed intelligently, the seems of the parts dissappear into the seams of the Zaku wherever possible. The Modell is quite agile and posable, and comes with everything a Zaku needs, from the 120mm machine gun over the bazooka to some missile launcher, and the kit contains various changable hands to fit the weapons in or pose.All in all a good kit of a classic mobile suit.Sieg Zeon!
