Too slim, or not too slim? That is the question
I have owned dickies in the past, but for some reason I always owned the larger, baggier versions, and so I stopped owning them as I grew out of that look.I currently work in a restaurant where I am required to wear black pants, and I used to wear cheap walmart slacks everyday, but these have become my new favorite. They have a good straight leg shape that also gives an indirect recognition that you do indeed have a butt, but without over announcing it like a pair of tight jeans would. The waist felt slightly snug the first time I wore them, but since then they have felt very comfortable. Depending on the pants, I wear either a 32 or 33 waist, but as 32s, these have a nice slim fit to them that won't allow them to sag, which is perfect for running back and forth at work. I'm 5'11" and 175 lbs, and the fit feels great on my legs as well. The material is very sturdy, as anybody who has worn dickies before would know, and therefore can withstand a good amount of abuse. There seems to be some conflicting opinions in the reviews regarding the fit of these pants - perhaps I can clarify. They are not slim fit in the sense that a modernly fashionable young man may think. By this I mean that they are not skinny jeans, they are not your girlfriends jeans, and they are not super butt hugging cowboy pants. They are, however, slim fit in a sense that a modern businessman may think, who can discern the difference between a casual style slack pant and a slim fit slack pant. In other words, there is definitely going to be some room between your legs and the pants, but they won't appear baggy. They'll look much more like straight leg jeans.I give these five stars as they perfectly fulfill my needs. They are not my favorite pants by any means, and I personally would very rarely wear them to any place except for work. But, I still do wear them almost every day, they are very reliable, and I am very happy with them.

Skaters Love Dickies And You Will Too
As a skateboarder, I look for a few things in a pair of pants. I like my pants to feel substantial, look fresh, hold up to falls and scrapes, and offer good mobility. Well, if you go to any skatepark, you'll see half the people there wearing Dickies, and for good reason. These pants really do check every box for a skater. I've probably skated each of my pairs well over 10 times, and they all look brand new. I will say they are a bit large, and I can't wear them without a belt. But as a skater, baggy is better, so this really is a non-issue. I love Dickies pants, and the skate community seems to feel the same way. If you're looking for some hefty pants that can take a lot of punishment, then I these are probably your best bet. The only thing I'll say against them is that in the summer they get pretty hot, but they're mostly polyester so what can you expect.

New Favorite Pants
Having worn Dickies since my Punk Rock days in the early 90's, I have rarely found that any other pants meet my needs. Since I have been told to grow up and get a job I have worn a few different styles of work pants. The stiff sanded duck of Carhartt, Craftsman jeans, Levi's , and even Duluth Fire hose Pants. The 874 from Dickies has always delivered a solid option. I recently threw out a pair of cutoff 874s from 1996. They frayed a whopping 1/8th of an inch and barely discolored over the last decades. I had a pair of Dickies Corduroy pants when ultra baggy was in vogue. Now to be taken seriously as a Chief Engineer, I have to look the part and do the work. That means I need a solid comfortable preforming pant. I have found my new choice in the 873.I ordered one pair as a trial and I immediately fell in love with them the first time I wore them. They arrive a bit stiff, but after the first wash they are gold. Slim as I would allow, they still let me move and bend and even squat. At 6'/ 190 I am not fat, but by all means I am not skinny either. I blame a general lack of exercise and craft beer. My wife noted that I look taller when wearing them. 36x30 with no sag and no ball squish. these are my goto pant now and I am going to buy every color for work and daily wear.Based on the fit of these I will be getting the Poplin Slim Straight for the upcoming summer heat.Just do yourself a favor if you are on the fence. Best Dickies ever worn
I’ve been wearing the standard fit Dickies for over 15 years to work. A few years back the sizing changed and I had to start wearing a 36 instead of a 34. So when I ordered these new slim fit straight leg I naturally ordered 2 sizes too big and ordered a 36. When I received them they were two sizes too big. After exchanging for the new true to size 34s I noticed that the belt loops are now adult sized and made for a full sized work belt.Slightly shorter rise in front and back. Still fits over my boots just fine. These are not skinny jeans. Best dickies I’ve ever worn.

Perfect fit
Just the perfect size. Not too skinny, and I've gotten compliments from my totally-not-gay coworkers (though maybe it would be more flattering if they were? Not complaining.)Basically the fit is just right.

Stiff as cardboard... Tip- Use Sandpaper!
Stiff as cardboard. Read that a "salt bath" will help soften them up but it didn't seem to help. I just about gave up on these until I decided to get out the sand paper and go to town, what did I have to lose... Turned them inside out and sanded them up really good with 2xx grit followed by 400. Excess material will be shed from the inner section resulting in a much more relaxed/smooth feel. My only suggestion is to tape off the thread seams before sanding. I wasn't paying attention the first time around and knicked a good portion of one leg resulting in the seam coming apart.
