Nice book of primative wool applique plus more
I almost gave this book only four stars because many of the designs in the book are ones that I already own in other settings or sizes. Then I realized Dah! The book is "Best of..." which already implies that the designs aren't necessarily new to someone who follows Stacy's work. Yes, I'm one of those people and I've got a lot of her individual patterns. The book is nice. Many of the designs included close up pictures that show the embroidery or details well. All of the projects are fairly small. The largest, a hand embroidery project named "Seasons in Blackwork Quilt" is 32.5" x 39.5". There are 14 projects. Four included hand embroidery; five are pillows of various sizes and shapes including a sheep pillow (with an unusually long nose/muzzle for some reason) that has three interchangeable wool applique blankets you can make. There are also two 8.25" penny mats (one with sheep plus pineapples and one with robins). Keep in mind that if there is a design you like but it is, lets say, for hand embroidery but you want to do it in wool applique ... go for it. It is very easy to convert a design from one medium to another.Project patterns are located within the book and on two tear-out pages in the back of the book. Stacy uses fusible web for her wool applique projects so those patterns have already been reversed. There are also a few recipes scattered throughout the book. (Why do publishers add those to quilt books? Maybe it is supposed to give the whole thing a more homey or traditional feel? For whatever reason ... I don't care for it.)If I had do-overs, would I buy this book again? Yes.Bottom line: This book is suitable for all skill levels. And since the projects are small and primitive in nature, even a beginner of wool applique or hand embroidery will have great success. If you're already a Buttermilk Basin fan boy/girl then you will also enjoy this book even though many of the projects will look very familiar to you. Enjoy!

Bilingual Crafting with Wool
Another wonderful addition to my Buttermilk Basin collection of patterns :) Excellent buy, great patterns. Just be aware that this book is half French, half English. Wish I would have known this. Huge distraction when looking through, but doesnt detract enough to keep you from crafting!
