Then you need to vary the pressure you are applying on the nib. Please be more patient and practice more. Once the ink stops flowing smoothly, dip the nib fully into a jar of water. wipe-off the ink on nib with paper towel when you have finished.

There are 11 nibs black ink and 6 beautiful ink colors. It’s been at least 25 years since I took a 6 week Calligraphy class at the Smithsonian in Washington, D.C. I had every intention of sticking at it and did write our wedding invitations. Then, 15 years ago, I took a class with the White House’s lead Calligrapher. Again, I promised myself I would stick to it. Now, I have no kids at home, 3 cats and have the time and light box to actually stick with it!
