Surprisingly Excellent!
Having recently moved back to Florida from Virginia, we had to briefly return to Virginia for my son's delayed high school graduation. We were staying there for a week or so for him to spend time with friends, so I wanted to be able to fish my old fishing holes. I have to admit I had serious doubts about the reliability of this rod and reel, but it worked flawlessly! It was really easy to pack in a carry-on bag and I loved having the extra spool for the reel so I could pre-spool two different line weights for whether I was creek or lake fishing. I had no trouble landing 1-1.5lb bass, hand-sized bluegill, 14" fall fish, and even a surprise 5-lb catfish. I didn't have any of the problems that the negative reviewers mentioned, and although I didn't exactly treat the combo delicately, I'm also not abusive with my gear either. On a side note, I'm really glad I bought this rod/reel combo instead of just buying something up in Virginia and just leaving it there -- there was little to no fishing gear available there! Now I'm thinking about buying a second one and bringing them both with me when vacationing or traveling.

Compact and light. I love it!
Rod is 16 and 6/16th of an inch folded and 82 inches opened. Just pull the rod to open and it secures itself. This is my first folding rod and I love it. My other rod is long and heavy duty but I could not feel if a smaller first bits. So I got me this and I could feel every bite even from small anchovies. The reel came with two different line Spool. I’m using a 10 lbs line. My hook got caught on something twice. I reeled and pulled the rod perpendicular to the line until the line snapped. Reel and rod are safe. I only lost a spinner and tube jig. I will update once I catch that bigger fish next time.Customer service is also excellent in helping me get a placement part that I lost free of charge. Thank you Alisa for your great customer service.

As good as any other telescopic rod
Got this for a backpacking trip to a mountain lake. It’s been great. Small and portable, as expected. Nothing out of the normal or different from a regular rod, besides the portability. It’s been great and the customer service was great when I reached out to them after Amazon shipped it to me with no padding a the reel broke in shipping. They sent me a new reel for free which I received within a week.My only issue with it is small metal circles on the bottom of the spool that’s aren't necessary and result in the line occasionally hooking on it when you cast out, but it’s avoidable if you’re conscious of it and it’s not a big deal.Overall, pretty happy with it.I’ve also seen a few reviews about the guide rings coming off and have to say from my previous experience with a telescopic rod that it’s important to just be gentle when extending the rod. You don’t have to really tug it into place. Just gently extend it. If some too hard, you’re going to bust those guide rings loose on any telescopic rod. I did it as a kid with my first telescopic rod and that’s how I learned to be gentle with it. Be kind to it and you shouldn’t have any issues.

Love it!
I love this combo it seems well built I love the extendable handle and the metal reel. I chose the shortest length for ease of use knowing I will only be making short casts and it works great. The reel feels very nice from the thick metal bail to the nice cushy handle. It has a very nice balance to it and comes with braided line. I would highly recommend the Sougayilang telescopic combo.

Better than expected!
Bought this as a replacement to a pole that I lost. I wanted to try out a telescoping pole to take with me in my kayak but I did not want to spend a ton of money because I wasn't sure if I would like it. This pole is actually amazing! Fits really easily in my kayak with me, the pole itself is high quality, you can still feel all the bites (something I was warned would be an issue with this type of pole), and the reel is very smooth and easy to cast. On top that, I was blown away from how cool the reel looks. Overall in my opinion, you would not be disappointed in this pole, it's been great.

Great travel setup - love it!
Bought this travel rig when we went to hawaii. Looks solidly built. Compact, easy to travel with. We rented a house near the water and used them when we were just hanging out. Caught a small trevally right of the bat. Must have got luck since I got skunked the rest of the trip. Nonetheless, so much fun to use during the downtime between other activities. Price and performance is excellent.

Put it to the test.
Purchased this set up for a vacation in Alaska where we may have an opportunity to catch a few fish. Living in Michigan, I spend a lot of time fishing and know quality gear. Since we were flying, I needed something portable but good quality which is often hard to find in a collapsible pole.I was impressed with the quality of this rod and reel set up. Between my two young boys (6 &8) and I, we caught over 30 Salmon ranging from 6-10 lbs with this pole. No issues what so ever. Pole had good action and the drag on the reel was smooth. Even my 70 year old Dad was impressed with how it handled Salmon in heavy currents.I would highly recommend this set up for those looking for a good travel rod and real. I plan on packing it for a 3 day hike in northern MI later this month.

really good rod for the buck and portability
been using this rod for a few years now and so far i love it! been very durable with no breakage to the rod, eyelets, or the reel and has handled well for fish that were actually oversized for the rod. caught a 5lb roughly catfish on the rod and it handled it well. only down side is one of the cosmetic screw looking pieces is kind of annoying to deal with and the actual screw for the reel keeps backing itself off a little. overall love the rod and would buy it again even with the minor defects.

Light and compact but not really suitable for lure spinning
I am a novice and I bought this as s spinning rod for canal lure spinning 1.8m version.Upon receipt the rod looks nice and compact, FIY the ring above the reel seat is loose and turns in place without any obvious purpose. Don't know if this is a fault but it does not affect functionality. Most important, the description does not specify Lure cast weight and I assumed standard 10-30 g as standard for most spinning rods. This Rod has 30-60 g cast weight and is too stiff for small plastic lures or spinners so beware.

Fits in your luggage
Did not go fishing yet but used similar one before and it’s good enough. Can travel with you since small enough which is great

READ THE FULL REVIEW...POOR QUALITY PRODUCT
Purchased this combo and the rod broke the very first day. Seller contacted me (they had to track my e-mail down) and offered a replacement. Arrived three days later and I went out right away just so that I could write this comment. Reel is excellent and comes with an extra spool. Rod held up really well and is very useful with it telescoping. Would I buy again? DEFINITELY!!! Great reel...great rod...great customer service. Any manufacturer can have a defective part. This company stands behind their rods and reels better than Berkely or Shimano ever would. Thank you to a great Amazon retailer. OKAY....SPOKE TOO SOON. ROD EYELETS CAME OUT WITHIN WEEKS. REEL TANGLES LINE (WENT THROUGH 3 SPOOLS OF LINE THEN FINALLY HAD IT PROFESSIONALLY PUT ON AT SAIL OUTDOOR STORE). STILL TANGLING. CAN'T USE THE ROD. CAN'T USE THE REEL. CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER WITH PHOTOS AND NEVER HEARD BACK FROM THEM.

Good rod, great service
I bought two of these rods&reel combos last fall.I was reasonably impressed with them and caught a number of fish with them. About half way through this summer, I was fishing in my canoe and one of the rods broke when I caught a 1.5lb smallmouth bass. (I managed to get the fish in the boat despite the broken rod). Luckily - I had the other rod with me (as a spare) so I rigged that one up and started using it. A short time later, that one broke as well because the eyes came unglued. (That's two broken rods in the same trip)When I got home, I emailed pictures of the rods to the seller, and they immediately shipped me two more rods as replacements despite having had the rods for almost a year. I was pretty impressed with the serviceI'll be adding some crazy glue or epoxy to the points where the eyes mount on the rods to reinforce them and will report back here at the end of the season to see how they held up.These are cheap rods and reels to begin with, so my expectations weren't that high. The reels have been flawless since I got them.

Horrible quality rods and reels.
I bought this product because I wanted a quality product I can use for salt water fishing without having to worry about it rusting and seizing up when exposed to salt water. Well it did just that after using both rods and reels twice. I even cleaned them before putting them away. After letting them sit for a while I went to use them and the screws were rusted and I could barely turn the reel handles. I had to take them apart, clean all the rust out and oil them before my next trip. I thought they were good to go until one of my rods snapped while I was on a fish. I basically got three fishing trips out of them. I didn’t expect too much out of them but I expected them to last for a few fishing trips every year. These products look like quality but are garbage, don’t be fooled.
