Works on painted surface
Light gray color, not scary black. I was using the transfer paper on top of thick painted metal surface. Haven’t tried it on paper yet, but I’m sure it would be much easier.

Printable graphite paper is a game changer
Out of necessity this is thicker than regular graphite paper, which means that using it the traditional way (transferring an image using an additional piece of paper) doesn't work the best. I did that myself and the transfer was very faint. But really, the whole point of getting this paper is to save that step altogether, which it does wonderfully. The paper works great in our printer. In our case we just need to load the paper graphite side up so that the image gets printed on the white/paper side of the graphite paper. Your printer might be different. I use the draft/low ink setting when I print on it, it saves on ink and still gives me a good image to transfer. It's great skipping the additional tracing step and makes for far more accurate transfers. The graphite doesn't seem to harm the printer in any way, even when I accidentally put it in with the wrong side up. And it gives a nice, strong transfer once I go over the image with a pencil or stylus. Also, since it's wax free the transfer is erasable and it works really well for pyrography pattern transfers. I love this stuff!

Great for watercolor tracing
This works great for watercolor paper. I use it to trace images onto watercolor paper. There are NO smudges like you would get with traditional carbon paper, and the traced image comes out very light so it doesn’t show under the paint. Easy to use- one side is dark grey/black and the other is white (Black side goes down..)Will buy again

Overall I like it. It's not waxy.
I've been an artist for a long time. I've had a lot of experiences with graphite papers AND waxy carbon papers.Overall this wax free "graphite" paper does what I purchased it for. (transferring drawings onto wood for pyrography). The transfer isn't waxy. And so the wood burning tool does not get gunked up with the transfer lines. YAY.But it was hard to transfer it through. I used a thick hard mechanical pencil AND a regular type pencil. And even tried the edge of my finger nail to test how much force was needed. The transfer was super light, almost invisible, unless I used a lot of hand force. I had to go slowly and press pretty hard.I've used graphite paper in my youth and no extra force was ever needed. But I haven't found graphite paper like that in years. It's hard enough to find anything that's not waxy.Other reviewers have mentioned those little ball head stylus things, so I might try those for my future use.

Hard surface? Yes Fabric? no
I first used MyArtscape Graphite Transfer Paper on a wooden sign. The transfer was very faint but usable. I next tried it on a white jacket pulled taut for embroidery. There was no transfer at all, even when I applied more pressure. I'll keep using it for hard surfaces, but fabric is a no-go.

A waste of money and time!
I have bought this 2x thinking that the poor quality of the first batch was a fluke. This batch is just as bad. The marks are barely visible! I spent much time tracing an intricate pattern only to find it practically invisible. Do NOT waste your money!
