I am a professional clarinet player. To prepare for big performances or auditions, I need intense practice daily for weeks and months. It causes fatigue on muscle and nerves on my hands, arms and whole body. TENS unit has been a huge help for me. After practice or before going to bed, I put 30-60 min of TENS and then pain relieving cream. By the morning, I feel the hands are recovered enough for another intense practice session. I imagine that I could have injured my hands if I didn't have TENS unit.I have used another TENS unit that is cheaper and seems popular on Amazon. It worked well but I prefer Ulaif for several reasons.1. I can use 8 pads at a time.I usually use 4 pads at a time but it is nice to have options to use 8 pads when I want to treat larger area at a time.2. Battery OperatedRechargeable unit is handy but I know the internal battery will die eventually and I have to replace the whole unit. Ulaif takes regular AAA batteries. I purchased AmazonBasics AAA High-Capacity Rechargeable Batteries (8-Pack). I rotate them; 4 are in use, and the other 4 are charged and stand by. With those batteries, the unit is practically rechargeable and there is no down time to charge the unit. When the batteries become unable to hold charge any more, I can just replace the battery, not the whole unit. One charge lasts me several days and much cheaper than using disposable AAA. I travel every other month for a week each time. I never used up those 2 sets of batteries. Even if the batteries run out, I can still get regular AAA anywhere!3. It takes cheap universal pad replacementsThe original pads that came with the unit are small that works well on hands and fingers. I wanted a little larger pads so I got DONECO 2" Square TENS Unit Electrodes, 48-Pack Electro Pads for TENS Therapy. I also got SPECTRA 360 12-08 Electrode Gel. To be honest, I am lazy. I don't clean my skin before putting on the pads as instructed and I just stick the pads back to the plastic sheet that came with, no washing or special treatment after each use. I was expecting replacing those pads once a week or every other week. It went far beyond my expectations! I've been using the same 4 pads daily, even several times a day, for 3 months. Those 4 pads are still working well with putting the gel occasionally.4. GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICEThe first Ulaif unit I received had an intermittent battery connection problem. Even a little vibration on the unit caused it shut off. After amazon 30 day return period was passed, I contacted the seller. They respond quickly and nicely asking me to send them a photo. As there is no visible defect, there is nothing I can prove the problem with a photo. I tried to send them a video but Amazon doesn't allow me to send it for security reasons. The seller took my words and sent me another unit right away without asking me to return the original unit. No wait, no hassles. What a great customer service!Initially, the unit may be more expensive than other TENS machine, and you may want to spend extra with the rechargeable batteries. But I assume the unit lasts longer than other rechargeable ones. It is easy to operate and effective. The operation cost would be very cheap and the seller stands behind the product. I often pocket while in use, and I appreciate the lock feature that prevents accidental power changes.The programs are straightforward to change and select. I suggest you ignore the "body and program" settings and find what is comfortable. If you are not familiar with TENS, then it is worth 30 minutes to do some homework. NCBI and the University of Iowa have great resources.To speak to the listed cons, the battery door requires a tool to open. Any fine point item will do, but it is a tool that is not provided. I keep my TENS unit supplies in a kit; it was easy enough to place the needed tool in my kit. It is not a significant setback, but something to keep in mind. Battery life is decent. I purchased units from 3 different makes, and they all lasted about the same amount of time. Quality rechargeable batteries might be a good investment.In summary, this is my favorite unit. I struggle with chronic back pain and I use this daily with amazing results of pain relief. I wanted to buy the exact TENS+EMS Unit being used at my physical therapy facility but it was going for $800. This one I purchased for $70 and it “packs a punch”. It has the TENS,EMS and massage option with various settings which are very easy to use. The electrodes are reusable and I’ve used them daily for a month now and it still sticks to my skin. Other units I looked into use 4 electrodes but this brand utilizes up to 8, which is a definite plus since I have a larger area to cover on my back.The ONLY reason I gave it a 4- star rating is because of the batteries. It uses 4-AAA batteries and they don’t last very long. I ended up buying rechargeable lithium batteries to last longer. I wish the unit came with the option to use AC power or at least a single rechargeable battery instead.Overall, this is an amazing portable gadget that is effective.
