My third pair purchased, I have one wide plate and two regular. They are absolutely fantastic straighteners, I stumbled upon these by accident when I was staying in an air B&B, they were in the drawer for me to use, and I’ve not looked back since. Quick to heat, and so easy to use. I’ve found previous brands to completely dry out my hair, almost giving it a dullness, these? They leave my hair super shiny. I can’t rave about Remington enough, my mum now has a pair, my aunty, we all have them. My hair is long in length, the wider plates are fantastic for curling with to give that curly wave style. They weigh nothing literally, super lightweight. Amazing straighteners, an absolute steal for the price!

I got this Remington Shine Therapy Straightener / Styler on offer, so it was a bargain. I’ve used GHDs since 2002, having tried pretty much every model since it started. My current GHD is the platinum + model, and I have also tried their newest model, the Chronos, but I can honestly say that this Remington Shine Therapy straightener works better on my hair, straightening and curling it more quickly. I have naturally wavy/ fluffy hair, which is quite fine but there’s a lot of it. It goes very frizzy as soon as there’s a bit of drizzle/humidity and I can never blow dry it anywhere near straight. When it fluffs up, it looks like a lion’s mane. I’ve only been using these for a few days, but am blown away by how great they are. The plates are also longer than ghds, which I find makes them easier to curl/wave with, and quicker to straighten with. When switched on, they heat up quickly, though the temperature display seems to flash for a couple of minutes (I haven’t timed it), which I believe indicates they are still heating up. However, I feel they work great even when the display is still flashing. When they switch on, they default to 190 degrees, so if you want them cooler or hotter, you just need to adjust with the buttons. I find 190 to be perfect for my hair, though I haven’t tried it cooler. It glides through my hair so easily. I can’t believe how quickly and effectively it straightens my hair; it has never felt softer or looked healthier. It’s great at curling/waving too, producing long lasting waves for a natural beachy look. There’s a button to lock the plates closed when not in use. This is a great idea but I do sometimes find it a little stiff so I tend not to use it. It’s not something that’s featured on any of my ghds before, so I will probably just continue to use the silicone sleeve I have from my ghd platinums, which holds the styler closed. If I straighten my hair with this, it remains pretty straight until I wash it again (sometimes just needing a straightening top up if it’s been tied in a ponytail. I needed to straighten my hair daily with my GHDs regardless of whether it was a hair wash day or not. The results are so much better with this than my ghds. I should also state that I have used cloud 9s too, which I didn’t think were that great. I can honestly say that this is the best straightener/styler I have ever used. I think I’d just assumed that no one would ever make anything anywhere near as good as ghds but I suppose 20+ years have passed since GHD infiltrated the market. Before spending loads of money on a top of the range one, give this a try, especially if it’s on offer. I’m sure you won’t be disappointed. Edit: I’m now nearly 8 weeks in, and my hair still loves this straightener. I wondered if the honeymoon period would wear off, but it hasn’t! And the best of it is, I haven’t had to do anything to my hair (other than brush it) since I washed it (and blow dried and straightened it) two days ago. That was unheard of before I owned this :) Edit: May 2025. It’s almost 11 months since I purchased this and I still stand by how amazing it is. The condition of my hair is the best it’s ever been. I don’t need to re straighten or wave my hair every day like I did with my GHDs; it stays straight or wavy (however I have styled it) until it’s washed again. And the condition of my hair after washing and drying is much better than it’s ever been. My hairdresser has noticed a huge improvement in my hair too.

I purchased this to replace another Remington branded straightener, which I had for over a decade. Pros - Quick to heat up (literally seconds). Wide plates equals greater coverage of surface area. Heat intelligence - turns off automatically if left unattended for a long time or gets too hot (do not attempt this!). Initially leaves hair feeling silky smooth because of the Argan infusion. This eventually wears off, but the effects can be recreated post wash, if you pre condition or oil your hair. Includes a nice travel pouch/cover. Took it on my travels recently and it is nice and compact. Easy temp control and user friendly LED screen. Cons - Wire is a metre approx. So you will need a power socker close to the mirror, extension cable etc. Previous reviews mention a smell, which is true but this does eventually wear off to a faint musk and the smell is bearable if you are less sensitive. The smell does not transfer to your hair. Would have been great if it came with heatproof gloves (although this isn't a hazard unless you are a novice). Wide plates means you can't curl your hair with this. White so it can get dirty (make up transfer) but this is easily cleaned. I do believe this will go the distance!

I’ve been using this Remington Shine Therapy Wide plate straightener for a few weeks now, and overall I’m really happy with it. What I liked: The wide ceramic plates infused with Moroccan argan oil help give my hair a sleek, shiny finish without tugging or snagging. You can feel the smooth glide as you run it through your hair — it doesn’t feel rough or pulling. It heats up really fast (about 15 seconds) and has multiple temperature settings (150–235°C) so I could adjust the heat depending on my hair’s condition (lower for fine bits, higher for thicker sections). The extra-wide plates are great for my medium-to-long hair — I managed to style larger sections at once, which cut down my styling time significantly. Features like a digital temperature display, auto shut-off, temperature lock and floating plates make it easy and safe to use. What could be better: If your hair is very fine or you’re used to ultra-premium stylers, the shine isn’t quite salon-level, but it’s definitely better than many budget straighteners. It can take a couple of passes on very curly or coarse hair, but that’s more a heat-tool thing than a major flaw. Final thoughts: This is a very solid 4-star straightener for everyday use. It heats quickly, gives a smooth and shiny finish, and the wider plates save time — especially if you’ve got longer or thicker hair. For the price, it’s a great performer and feels like good value.

Es una excelente plancha que controla el frizz especialmente es los días con clima húmedo, también su forma redondeada hace que se facilite hacer rizos con facilidad, sin duda alguna la recomiendo!

Love love love this. So quick and easy to use and effective. Highly recommend. My hair is poker straight in no time, no tugging or breaking and it stays straight and glossy all day even in hot humid tropical weather. Remington really knows what they're about

Après avoir vu beaucoup d’avis élogieux sur le net j’avais hâte de le recevoir et de le tester. En ouvrant la boîte j’ai pu découvrir que le lisseur n’est pas adapté aux prises électriques françaises. Il faut prévoir un adapteur.. (avis basé uniquement sur ce détail car je n’ai pas pu encore tester le produit)
