The Beginning of Blue Sun
So the adventures on the moon continue in the Android Netrunner universe! Nasir is still trying to track down the pieces of the original code that created the net. But first a stop by Aesop’s Pawnshop. So is this a Data Pack worth picking up? Let’s follow our normal trend and give you thoughts on each card. Scale of 1-5.*Angel Arena (2) It’s ok. That’s the most I will say. I would prefer to run Motivation over this.*Architect (3) Designed by the 2012 Netrunner World Champion. It’s a neat little tutor. How powerful will it end up being? We will have to wait and see on this one.*Ashigaru (2.5) This is a strong ETR ice for sure. Unless you are running low on HQ cards. Add it in the fact that it costs 9, I would personally rather stick with Wall of Thorns.*Astrolabe (4) Hello Near Earth Hub! Or shell game Personal Evolution too. This console isn’t getting as much love as it should. Can be pretty strong.*Autoscripter (2.5) Free clicks are always good. And this one’s drawback isn’t too terrible. Unfortunately it probably won’t make much of a difference. Not designed for the aggressive Criminal runner.*Blue Sun: Powering the Future (5) In the post Near Earth Hub world we live in, it may seem ludicrous to suggest that any corp could even come close to being that good. And while Weyland’s build may not have the sheer power of NEH(Astroscript for the win!), it makes so much money, you are always in danger of Scorched Earth. Worth buying this pack just for this identity!*Changeling (3.5) While at its heart it is just a ETR barrier, this ice is great because you can change the type at will. Works great with cards like Power Shutdown.*Docklands Crackdown (1.5) There is no disputing this is a frustrating card for the runner. But the low trash cost and the high cost for the corp means it won’t see much play. At the moment anyway.*Fester (1) I really don’t see this card ever becoming a thing. While it is frustrating for the corp to lose 2 credits (or more with more copies out). In general the corp won’t be clearing virus tokens that much.*Hades Fragment (1) It’s ok. But Eden and Utopia are way better.*Inject (2.5) Could be decent card draw. And ok money. Unfortunately it doesn’t excel in either. Maybe useful with Mass Install? Seems like a “Johnny” card to me.* Labyrinthine Servers (3) Could be very useful for a Jinteki PE deck. It’s debatable whether it is better than Future Perfect though. Still could be a good card you want for Jinteki.*Mamba (4) Wow! A card that replicates House of Knives? Signe me up! I have given this card a whirl and I can honestly say it is the real deal. No ETR, but it doesn’t want that. It wants the runner brain dead. Excellent card!*Origami (2.5) Another card that ranks low now. But I think has a future…*Peak Efficiency (3) Glacier decks salivate at this card. The rest of the corps aren’t as impressed.*Reuse (3) Another card that doesn’t seem terribly exciting. But with the low influence cost, it could easily slot into other corp decks like Jinteki. Fill up the archives with traps for free money.*Reversed Accounts (3) I in general hate advanceable trappy stuff because the runner usually guesses not to run it. This one, you just don’t care. And with it being low influence and easily splash worthy? I like it.*Switchblade (3) Another nasty stealth card. I think the time of the stealth deck has arrived.*Trade-In (1) More Nassir mumbo jumbo. Not interested.*Universal Connectivity Fee (1) It’s no Pop-Up Window.*Bottom Line (3) A mostly miss of a Data Pack. The Blue Sun ID is fantastic. But the rest of the pack is rather lackluster. Still if you are a Weyland player, or a Netrunner fanatic like me you probably bought it anyway. Unfortunately it’s not too impressive a pack.
