A real hassle tearing the entire laptop apart to install the new fan only to discover that it is so-o-o-o annoyingly loud. I am happy to have cooling back but this fan sounds like a Cicada bug chirping and even with my music turned up loud, the fan can be heard. I would be embarassed to take my laptop out to a public place.If you can find an alternative it may be worth considering.

I thought my original fan was noisy and needed to be replaced. But this new one is louder than my original old one. But to take it all apart again and the down time waiting n waiting to resolve the issue, i just said forget it and just left it.

I bought this fan to replace the OEM fan on my HP Pavilion dv4. The old one sounded like a lawn mower coz I had used it for six years. It was embarassing to use my laptop in a library or any other public space because of the amount of NOISE it created. I was able to replace the fan myself using a youtube instructional video. Super quiet and super smooth!! I love it! Though there is a two second delay between the time I press the power button and the computer starting up after I replaced it, it has worked FLAWLESSLY!! I highly recommend this fan!

The fan works, however it definitely seems and if I recall correctly, is a product of China. There are literally half the fan blades of the OEM factory fan. Also a very annoying issue is the fan seems to hit its shell if the fan(laptop) is moved at all producing a grinding style noise. OEM module did not do this. For 6 dollars though it appears I got what I paid for but it works. I'll give it that.

Just wish this HP laptop didn't require near total disassembly to get to the fan. It is something that one would expect to wear out running continuously. Truth is the original fan has worked for 8 years. Older functional Intel i5 processor running Win10.

Fan does work but unfortunately it sounds like a cricket or cicada was trapped inside when fan is turning slowly or at idle speed. Noise does go away when fan gets spun up when heat builds up in laptop. Unfortunately many laptops don't run at high speed unless they are being heavily used and heat builds up. This unit may quiet down over time but no guarantee.

It works, but when it idles, it makes a really annoying high pitched noise.Not a big deal to me, since it definitely does it's job, but just worth noting.

laptop kept overheating so i checked the back and the fan wasn't spinning. so i went on amazon and found this cheap and just like the original and it works perfectly
