The models RM-101 and RM-110 come with tripods as a convenience to the user, but you will save money on shipping if you buy the model without tripods (RM-101-NT) and buy the tripods directly from Amazon (AmazonBasics 60-inch Lightweight Tripod with Bag, 2-Pack)

is the time correct and the display is delayed on your phone or is the time off as well?

The time is calculated at the laser head and broadcast to the phones. Some phones take a bit of time to display the results but that does not affect the accuracy of the results. Same with crossing the start line, the phone may have a short delay rolling the time but the phone is just a display and not involved in the result calculations so the results are always accurate
