If you are a rank beginner and are looking for a detailed explanation of starting seeds, this book is for you. Numerous useful illustrations.However, if you don't like details, some tasks could be fudged but this book doesn't tell you which of them can be "guestimated" and which are important to do exactly.Good list of reference websites at the end.

Very direct and well written. Has everything from soil mix recipes to timelines and how to transition from a summer garden to a cold weather garden. I highly recommend this book.

This book is really excellent for beginner gardeners! I used to garden when I was young but haven't in years and I learned a lot I never knew about seeds. I never paid attention before and always wondered what I was doing wrong. Once I read this book it opened my eyes. It lays out the basics and importantness of the prepping BEFORE you really get into gardening. It's a fool proof system and a guide that's super helpful before you get a gardening beginners book. I would recommend this big time.

This is a great little book. It's a quick and easy read that is very well written. Simple and easy to understand. Though there is a lot of information here, I do believe this is a general or basic introduction to starting seeds. Having said that, i think this is a very good place to start. I have since picked up a couple of other books on starting seeds, but did so because of what I read in this book. If you are a beginner or are thinking of starting seeds for the first time I think this is a great place to start. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone looking for some basic or entry level knowledge on seed starting.

If you’re just starting out gardening in general, this book is a MUST HAVE and will become your bible! Super helpful and easy to follow/ understand. A lot of useful information and an excellent index to easily find other topics. I’ve gotten an invaluable amount of advice from this book and it wasn’t presented in an overwhelming way!

The only thing stopping me from giving this 5 stars is all the jumping from section to section, resource to resource, this book includes. I feel as though the book could be streamlined a little better. Other than that, I gained a lot of useful information and some tips along the way.

Great little book for those of us who are beginners in seeds. Very organized and easy to follow. The book is very small so you can easily slip it in your purse to read when you have a few extra minutes.
