Is the night light automatic or optional? Is the Yellow Play Light optional?

At the sleep time, MELLA's eyes will close and you can set an AUTOMATIC night light to come on at the same time.

Is the brightness of the light ring and the screen display adjustable?

Yes to both! For the light ring, there are THREE brightness settings to choose from. For the screen display, there are FIVE brightness settings to choose from. You can even dim the face ALL THE WAY to black!

Can the sound machine and night light run all night?

Yes to both! The sound machine and night light have various duration options including continuously/all night long. Even though the out of the box default duration is 30 minutes, the duration can be changed in the settings.

Does MELLA run on battery?

NO - MELLA must be plugged in to work. A pre-installed battery is solely meant for timekeeping/memory keeping in the event of moving the unit or a power outage. We sell replacement USB cables/adapters - search for Amazon product B0D77HNSYC.
