A high quality TV, but...
My first time experiencing 4K, 120Hz, and HDR. Or at least I believe it is. It's definitely a welcome upgrade to what I used to have. Though now that I've experienced it I do believe that I could've settled for the Bravia 8. For my personal purposes that is. I only really game and watch some shows on Netflix and other apps. Still a really nice TV overall and easy to setup, but maybe wait until the price drops a bit more if you're really set on this TV.

the oled tv gold standard has arrived at amazon
keep your hands off the screen!! oled tv screens are very fragile.the back side of tv is where you grab the tv. this is the new gold standard in oled tv's. you will not be disappointed with the color this delivers..the reviews from others have a common thread in the satisfaction they have with this tv.forget the rest just get the best.

Hits all the marks
Great picture, bright and the colors are vibrant..Sound seemed good too, but I use a separate audio system added a few days after delivery. Sony definitely improved their setting menus and simplified the remote as well. I added Amazon delivery services who unboxed and placed the TV in my desired room. Worth the extra charge

Amazing picture marred by Google TV interface
This review is for the Sony BRAVIA 8 II 65-Inch QD OLED TV, Google TV. It's a lot bigger than the tv it is replacing. We've been living with a 42" tv for a decade and it was fine. At least I thought it was before I saw this thing. Our current TV table was insufficient to put this thing on as it would need to be over 56" wide to accommodate the included legs which mount on the outer edges of the tv. Also we live in a rental house so I didn't want to go punching holes in the wall for a wall mount, so I bought a pillar stand for it which works out really well. I was able to get it out of the box by myself but I needed a spotter to get it onto the stand. I'm 6' tall so I've got the wingspan to grab the tv from both ends. It is 55lbs so it'd honestly be better with two people. The power plug isn't terribly long so I can't hide it without an extension cord. Also it's on the opposite end of the tv from all of the other connectors which I thought was weird. If you're just sitting it on a tv stand then you probably won't see it, but since mine is floating, the dangling cords are kind of ugly which requires me to buy much longer cords for everything. There's a fair amount of getting the TV set up once it's turned on. Logging into everything is a major hassle since you have to use the remote to type in all of your emails and passwords. Why they don't have some QR code or web code to assist with log in is beyond me. Even more annoying is a couple of days after getting it all set up it inexplicably logged me out of my account requiring me to do it all over again. Part of the setup process makes the tv shoot out sound beams to calibrate the panel for the best sound. Honestly I'm not that impressed with the audio from it, but I've got an audio system that I use with big powerful speakers instead. The tv sounds a little tinny and hollow in comparison. If you don't have a surround sound system you'll probably think it sounds great. It does have an optical out with a 3.5mm optical adapter and that's what I use to output the signal from the TV to my system. It's transmitted every kind of signal I've thrown at it from Stereo to Dolby Atmos. We cut the cord a long time ago so I really only watch blu ray movies or youtube so I can't comment on watching regular TV on it. The real draw of this TV is the picture. It's so bright. So clear. And so realistic that you feel as if you're just looking through a window into another world. Watching any movie makes it a theater like experience with contrast going from absolute black to pure white on side by side pixels. There's no bleed. There's no bloom. Everything is crisp and exact. We watched Lord of the Rings in 4k on this thing and it was like watching for the first time all over again. Any point of light, like a candle or a fire, illuminates like a real candle or fire! It was hard for my brain to process what was happening. Playing video games on it is also a surreal experience as it has no problem with frame rates and keeps that crazy contrast making even older games look amazing. Some downsides though. The Google TV interface is kind of garbage. I hate being shown ads all of the time and that doesn't even go away when switching to app only mode. This is a $3000+ TV. Why do I have to be subjected to ads on my home screen? Nevermind the fact that several of them were wildly inappropriate for children to be viewing, and they're just there when you turn the TV on. At least it lets you install apps from the Play store so there's pretty much no streaming service you don't have access to. It's also very fast and responsive. There's almost no waiting on the TV and it has fully replaced the Roku 4k we used to use for Smart TV things. The other annoying thing is that the audio switches to TV speakers pretty much every time you turn the TV on which requires me to go into the settings and change it back to Audio System. It will. Not. Remember. Super irritating. The Sony Pictures Core app is a nice add and I appreciate the credits they've included to get some movies. I haven't gotten any yet though as I've seen most of the ones available on there and the selection is pretty limited regarding newer movies. There's a lot of older ones that I wouldn't waste a credit on and a ton of stuff I've never heard of before. For what I use it for and the way I use it, it's amazing. Even with the annoying menu and sound issues. Now, would I buy this TV if I hadn't gotten it from Vine? Maybe after knowing what I know now, but $3k+ is a steep ask when there are lots of TVs at this size that are far less expensive.

Premium Television
I needed to get a handle on the Google TV operating system before writing a review as I've not any prior experience with it, and ultimately, at least for my app usage on a smart TV, it is a giant part of how I would rate any smart TV. --but I'll get back to that. The television arrived delivered carefully, and packaged in a very protected manner. Like any 65-inch television, this is a big, heavy box. Unpacking, and reading through the instructions while looking at the accessories, it was very simple to get set up. I opted to use the legs on a TV stand, because to hang it, I would want professionals involved. I plugged into my existing surround sound system via e-arc HDMI 2.1 cable and immediately everything sounded superb. However I did test just the television's speaker, and I really felt that was impressive sound on its own for a television speaker.Back to the operating system, Google TV. For our use, we mostly use streaming apps and our own server. It took some time getting used to a new operating system but ultimately it wasn't much different than using an Android device to set up the same apps, except there's no touch screen, obviously. I would rate the different tv OS systems in the following order of ease of use: Roku, AppleTV, Google TV, Fire TV, in my humble opinion. There is good app availability for Google TV, but some of the features we are used to from Apple TV and Roku aren't there. Though, I suppose we could always just add a box if it becomes an issue.Streaming was without delay. The resolution and field of colors was really quite impressive, as so was the screen brightness. I was very happy with both the picture and sound quality for watching television and movies. It was a premium experience.I am not a big gamer, but a friend brought and X-Box X over to really test things out with. This is where the high refresh rate got a chance to shine. I don't have a keen enough eye to notice such things while watching a film. But in game, when the screen is responding to your hands, you can feel how 120Hz is superior to 60Hz in every way. Combined with the amazing brightness and color spectrum, it was obvious that this television was probably the nicest we've ever had.It is also the most expensive television we've ever had. I'm hopeful that it will last us many years. I have other Sony products that lasted many years, so I'm quite hopeful. All in all, the only negative is the Google tied in operating system, but die hard Google heads will probably love that. It is truly a subjective thing, but it just isn't my favorite. Other than that, everything about this television is amazing. This is a premium television and a really pleasant viewing experience. It looks and sounds great, which is what we all want from our TVs.
