Easy, professional current taps
This T-tap is only part of the 3M T-Tap system, you must buy the spade connector separately, so read on for further info...I like these better than the running taps but there are a few things you must think about before you use these:1. These are not in any way, weather or water proof, or even moisture resistant. U-Boat commanders look elsewhere!2. You MUST match your target's wire gauge with the appropriate size T-tap. Do not try to pass an elephant through a key hole! The 22-18 gauge t-tap will match most low drawing wire found in modern cars with the exception of the starter, and exterior light circuits. Those hi-draw circuits will probably require the 16-14 size. Forcing a small t-tap on small gauge(thicker) wire will yield poor results(if you can successfully close it, you will probably cut through the target wire strands which will reduce its current carrying capacity and/or weaken the wire substantially). Correspondingly, using a 16-14 gauge t-tap on 22 gauge wire may not even cut the insulation, resulting in no conductor contact. The only other exception may be heavily insulated wire. AWG is the measure of the CONDUCTOR not the overall diameter including the wire jacket. The only way these T-taps work is by cutting through the insulation to make contact with the underlying conductor wire. That is why sizing is critical for the proper current transfer- it works best when it 'just' cuts through the insulation, and does not cut through any wire strands.3. Unless you plan on a super ghetto job, you MUST use these t-taps with their appropriate FULLY INSULATED male, spade connector. This system allows you to tap into the existing line, and at a later time, add the tapped line by plugging the spade connector into the back slot of the closed t-tap. You don't have to juggle your target, tap and connector all at the same time as you do with running taps. The result is a totally shielded current tap which is protected from contact shorts without any electrical tape or heat shrink. Please don't cheap-out and put a bare metal spade into the t-tap. You will earn the nickname "Sparky" when your naked spade touches ground and shorts out.4. Please remember that smaller gauge wire is designed for heavy current draw. The manufacturer used that size for a reason. If the wire looks significantly larger than it's 'neighbors', look to tap into another higher gauge wire. When done properly, and used in the right conditions, this current tap system will rival a soldered connection.

Great Product
It had been a while since I performed any significant automotive wiring and I dreaded crawling under the dash to install a remote starter for my car. This product helped make a hard task easier. They make it very easy to tap a wire but they can easily be undone if you want to reroute the wires later. You can also easily splice a 18-20 gauage wire (red connector) into a 14-16 ga (blue connector) or 10-12 guage wire (yellow connector) something that was hard to do with the old scotch locks. One thing to watch for, when inserting the connector lug into the T-Tap, sometimes the blade of the lug would skirt the outside of T-Tap rather than going into the T-Tap slot. The lug connectors I used were transparent so it was easy to tell when this occurred.Overall, this product results in a study connection greatly simplyfing wiring tasks.

Makes Life Easy
I just finished installing a new stereo and rear view camera in my vehicle. Rather than cutting into the wire and having to pull out soldering tools, I was able to simply latch on with these connectors. It actually does make your life easier when you can be assured that you have a solid connection to your cables. The only thing I'd wish I knew was that it requires a male connector to be placed on the other wire to make it work. Luckily I had an entire bag of them sitting in my garage. Overall a good product, and I would probably purchase again if I run out.

3M T-taps
These T-taps were used in wiring in a car alarm system. I highly recommend these T taps for simplicity. They make installation a snap (pun intended). There are a few limits. You should not use t-taps for power or ground connections. And I would not use T-taps for high current applications either. For my setup, most of the wire taps are to 20 gauge wire so these came in handy and I did not need to solder wires in tight spaces. The only downside with t-taps is using crimp-on connectors. This relies on your crimp job being flawless. Be sure to buy something better than the cheapo crimper/wire stripper found at most hardware stores.

Not made by 3M
these are not made by 3M. The worked fine and I would have rated them a 5 if they were not miss represented.

Just what I needed
These t-taps work great and makes splicing into wires easy. It may be difficult to clamp these onto larger wires without the proper tools, but if you have the right tools they go on with ease. Pliers even make it easier to put these on larger wires.

22-18 Gauge T-Tap - They work!
Ordered 4 bags/ 400 pieces total and out of the 400 I had no issues with a one of these. I used them to install a debit card system into about 100 arcade games and never had one bad or loose connection. These worked great. Thank you.

Okay
Doesn't cut through insulator on small gauge wire, but just sort of mashes it instead.
