Do these backs push on or screw on the earrings?

They push on, and while the description says they will fit most posts, they really only mean medium-size posts. They are too large for very thin posts that you might find on good earrings, and heavier posts will not go through. Be aware that these backs are very small, and very thin. I found that I really didn't have a use for them, and probably should have sent them back.

Are theses real gold?

They look nice...I take it at face value when it is stated as "14K Gold.." So, I got out my light and magnifier...I saw this on the backing itself "1/20 14K"...I have no idea what the first part means, but I'm taking it as 14K gold...I like them a lot...I hope this helps

Are they solid gold or plated?

The stamp on the backing says ( 1/20 14k). Which means it is gold filled, not solid.

Will it to 4mm studs?

They are tiny, like for little girls studs.
