Malt Extract Agar (MEA) Plates for Mushroom Cultivation (10 Prepoured Agar Plates)

I have bought these a few times and have had pretty good results overall. Only had bacterial contam on a couple but that was after me using so could have been particles in the air.

They worked well and had no preexisting contamination, outer packaging was a little beat up but plastic inside was uncompromising. Thought that the lids being a little slide-y would mess up their contents with outside air but it hasn't so far and a lions mane culture seems to be doing well.

These agar plates were my first attempt at using agar to grow mushrooms for the first time and I was not impressed. The package (box) it came in was well sealed, but that’s where the “good packaging” ended. The plates were stacked in a ziplock bag stacked on top of each other upside down and there was liquid all over the inside of the bag containing the plates, where the contents clearly leaked all over the inside of the ziplock bag. These plates do NOT come sealed and are NOT sterile. There is no way to return this item so you will be SOL if you want to get your money back for this product. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!UPDATE: within a couple days of posting this review, bacteria started growing in the plates and are visible in the most recent photos added today. DO NOT PURCHASE!!

We will see, I used 5 of them for research and so far every single one was infected but I'm no expert so they could be solid and I'm just an amateur. They were coated amazing and look solid. Will update review if the rest go better. I should note, i wasn't in the most sterile environment which is why review isn't horrible, it's likely my fault. The seal was not the best though which is why I'm giving this review. Will update if I have success in sterile environment next time. Thanks!

Came as described. No complaints.

The dishes came in a ziplock bag and wrapped in bubble wrap. All clean (no contam) and no damage. The MEA had excellent performance as the mycelium colonized quickly. The only thing I noticed was a few plates didn't have much agar although it didn't seam to bother anything. The plastic on the dishes are thin but sturdy. No issues with shipping or micropore tape. Nice size of 90mmX15mm. I am satisfied with my purchase.

i gave it a 3 star because the dishes had nothing holding the two halves together and i had gloves on with 70% iso sterilized but the first one i took out #1 was upside down so the glove contact the agar with 3 fingers, used and labelled contam in case, but there should be some sort of tape wrapped around the entire edge of the dish holding the lid to the dish and keeping out any contam... just because its in a bag doesnt meen the inside of the bag when made didnt touch a quadrillion little contaminants.... so 3 for lack of caring. none were contaminated uppon arrivaal but you would think a company that producing pre pours would think of this and been through this before.....

Product is just what I was expecting and works as I had planned, thank you for your speedy service
