One of the best Analog Audio Mixer for Live Performance / Home Studio
I was confused for USB interface vs mixers vs Karaoke/ independent microphones. I wanted a setup to cover both live vocal and instrumental performances with option to record to PC or pod-casting. I did some research for beginner to intermediate level home studio setup. Also visited a professional recording studio before finalizing this amateur setup. If you're confused whether to go for USB audio interface or mixer: 1) USB audio interfaces with RCA input/ line inputs - go for this if you want to RECORD audio from a mixer, amplifier or any other AV device that has AV output. This can work to record cassette / CD player audio to your computer. This is the cheapest option with reasonable quality. Behringer gives most cost effective options. 2) USB audio interfaces with both mic and line inputs- these are good for recording from AV source and mic input particularly for recording live music performance with instruments. Costlier than 1 above and the cost increases as you look for more inputs sources. Example, Focusrite Scarlet, Behringer, Steinberg, Zoom etc. 3) Audio Mixers: You need a mixer, if you've multiple input sources. Do not go for audio interface with many inputs - you'll not get results with desired flexibility. ** Go for a mixer with as many inputs as you need for live performance and add USB audio interface for recording.** You're good to go for both live performance, recording to PC, pod-casting, Karaoke performances. Example, Yamaha, Mackie, Behringer, Steinberg etc. There are analog audio mixers with USB interface (like this MG10XU), but the recording results over USB are not as expected (USB sound output is too low) unless you go for costly digital mixers. I went for UCA222 with this Yamaha MG10XU that gives best possibility for all possible combinations for an professional quality amateur home studio. The download of Cubase available with this is trouble-free from Steinberg, but it is too huge and technical for beginners. Audacity is a better option for beginners. Windows 10 recognizes MG10XU as recording device and configure the drivers. Personally, I'm satisfied with recording via MG10XU USB interface to Audacity with some Amplification effect. This model MG10XU is a piece of beauty and quality. Nice value for money. The built, finish, presentation is good and controls' handling is smooth. The sound quality rendered by Yamaha is excellent and the effects are good. You'll need a lot of cables and connector/ converters, so research before you buy accessories to minimize cables, connections and converters. Went for Yamaha instead of Mackie or Berhinger for better chances of support in India. PS: Professional mixing and recording is quite different consideration. Above holds good for small to medium home or amateur setup.

This is a king of 10 channel mixers segment
This mixer is great peace of art made by yamaha ,this can give you joy of karaoke ,home studio quality recording, live performances thanks to spx 24 digital effects ,while recording you get crystal clear noice free 24 bit 192 khz quality recorded file ,i also like this mg10xu very much because its a very very simple mixer to operate ,but read user manual very care fully before use it first time if you are a beginner. Last but not least , for recording always u need to amplify output file through various daw like audacity ,traction, cubase ,ects because it will give u very low volume sound recording which we have to amplify by the help of daw (digital audio workstation ) . Pros:- 1- best recording quality 24 bit 192 khz 2- very easy to use. 3- great mic pre apms ,0 noice i feel . 4- compact not need much space but yet feature full. 5- adopter is with 2 pin ac plug this will reduce issue of ground loop 6- made in Malaysia {not Chinese} And many more pros are there 7- great 24 spx effects covers each and every effects one need in live performances Cons- 1. It is suitable for small bands only not for big ones 2. It gives low volume output while recording in pc via usb but it can be amplify by daw (digital audio workstation ) very easily . This is it this is a great mixer with great spx 24 effects

I am very happy with the purchase
While this was a bit costlier for me, I am very happy with the purchase. This has excellent sound quality, no observable latency, accepts many different inputs, has good effects. Two minor cons I have seen (I would still buy the product in spite of these): 1. It gets a bit hotter than what I would like. 2. With USB, the output is a single stereo channel (for recording say using Audacity). Ideal for me would have been to record as a stereo music channel and mono vocals. However, I am able to pan all music into the left stereo channel and vocals into the right stereo channel, thus recording them both separately as two mono channels. It is then easy to separate the recorded stereo channel into two mono channels using Audacity (and most likely other software).

awesome superb ....good by yamaha
awesome product by yamaha ... first of all good mixer powerful and clean sound quality,10 inputs are available so you can connect easily everything ,you can use this mixer as interface because it has usb and usb quality is also good and yamaha gives you free quabase softwer it is also good ,so this is good for recording also... and also for good live usage but only 2 outputs ...so for beginers this is a big giant and go for it because finally it's yamaha and it's proved why it has powerful quality .

Requires more modification
This product is well build with metal body but get heated after 30 minutes of use. Sound quality is good but vocal records low noise in my i7 pc thru usb cable( printer cable). Cubase daw is not user friendly like audacity. Does not requires additional audio interface. Effects, fx are good. Mic preamps requires more amplification. Easy for beginners. Good value for money.

I was looking for something that was reliable sounded great, and had a good feature set
I looked at buying a few different mixers before deciding on this one. I was looking for something that was reliable sounded great, and had a good feature set. This mixer is great for a few reasons 1) It's yamaha. They are generally pretty reliable. I own other yamaha music equipment and haven't had any issues with any of those items 2) Has good fx including a compressor. The mic compressor alone makes this product so much better then other mixers in terms of versatility. For recording its nice to have a little compression for the vocal before it hits the AD converter. 3) You can use this as an interface. I can't comment on its use as a an interface as I own a universal audio solo 610 interface that I love. But its a good feature to have. 4) The reverb: sounds wonderful. Particularly room 1, fx 3. It helps to glue everything together and put it in the same space. 5) The use the fx send and it has been great for a ton of uses. I use it mostly as an external bus. Whats great here is that you can use the internal effect like say a reverb and mix in a little. You can simultaneously use the fx send and send out to a delay unit, and then place the return on another channel. Other units its fx send or internal fx, you won't be able to use both. 6) Feels sturdy and seems well built. So far i've had it on well over 20 hours of use and its been good. I'll update this in a few months. 7) Value. For the money if you compare the comparable mixers like behringer and mackie I think the choice is clear. Both of the former companies have reliability issues. Mackie preamps are good but fx are bad. Behringer preamps are hit and miss but fx are good. Yamaha is overall great. Cons: For me nothing really except I wish the EQ had three bands for every channel. And I wish I could have an fx send that wasn't tied to the internal fx.

Yamaha. The best.
This thing is Industry standard ready and good as it gets far as im concerned. Mixes perfect with any proper gear I've thrown at it and records on cubase perfectly which is just as great of a program and all you really need for a DAW, and it comes with that too if you dont have it already. You really should. Make the right choice. It's also completly gig proof, delivery driver proof, and idiot proof, so it survives my daily use. So is Cusbase. Oh and it gets hot, because it's suppsed to, not burning hot indoors at 25c, but it's working good as it's overdriven preamps design were intended. It's yamaha, it works fine. It don't break. M audio, behringer, things like that, broken, don't even have industry standard sound processors or hardware, just fine china. When you do sort through all the company propaganda and ads, youll find their top tier actual industry standart gear is like the same price or even more than, actual industry standard gear. Get an Art tube basic tube amp, some Shure sm57 or 58 if you have too, and some instruments, pedals, proper gain and preamps, soundsystem style, outboard gear. Analog. Mix and master in Cuebase intuitively, actually finish a project, and tools to polish it up if needed. The original one I sold after 10 years use was still in perfect condition. This model I prefer and would recommend. The Cubase v4 that came with it is still running my projects and samples etc on an old IBM and integrates with all the new stuff as well. Keep it up Yamaha. The best. I got on a ton of other sequencers DAW and what not and found the workflow completely inferior, counterproductive to put it nicely. Stop fiddling around with crap and get your music done right fellas. Enjoy. Free and goot VST's VST3 now I suppose and all sorts of good helpers on cuebase if you find the right bunch.
