13 years and going strong!
I was looking thru old Amazon orders and noticed I got this for $88 in 2004 - talk about a workhorse, this thing is STILL working perfectly for me! It doesn't get a whole lot of use - maybe 10 -20 pages per week - and in the summer the cartridges seem to dry out and need a fresh batch, but looking back on this purchase, it was money well spent! I don't think I would find anything comparable today. Lots of printers with more bells and whistles, but I'll take reliable anytime!

The absolute worst experience I've had in internet shopping!
It was a total disaster and a very expensive one. I am still awaiting notification of the refund of the cost of the unit. The shipper had agreed to refund the cost of returning the defective unit and have not heard from them as of today.

Good for a Few Years - Then Failed
I work from home, meaning there's a variety of things I have to print. Sometimes it's invoices. Sometimes it's shipping statements. I print letters and receipts. I'm not printing all day, but I do tend to print something every day. I need a printer that's reliable.I was very happy with the HP PSC 2175 for a number of years. It printed steadily. It created good quality output. I never needed any of the memory card units - I have those right in my computer next to me. But for the printing - and sometimes the copying - it was quite useful. Then, about three years into owning it, it developed an odd problem. When the unit was turned on, the scanner head would go out a little, come back, and then start grinding. Website after website talked about people having this issue. They talked about cleaning mirrors, cleaning the glass, and so on. We took the whole thing apart multiple times and cleaned everything in sight - but nothing works. It still grinds. On one hand it lasted three years and was solid for those years. But, on the other hand, are printers really three-years-and-dead now? That seems an amazing shame. In terms of the scanner, I now use a NEAT scanner (the kind you send pages into one after another) and I *love* it so I can't imagine going back to a flatbed scanner. I suppose I do use a flatbed for old photos, but I've scanned all of those in at this point so I don't even do that any more. All in all, I'd say to seek out something more recent and more reliable at this point.

Good Printer. Bad scanner.
As a printer, this machine suits my home needs well. It is fast, decent quality, and the ink is fairly inexpensive. My only complaint is that the scanner is very poor, even by flatbed scanning standards. The parallel port Mustek scanner I bought at Wal*Mart five years ago does a better job than the 1275.

A pleasant surprise
I've found buying printers very frustrating over the years. I had a poor experience years ago with an HP and an equally frustrating time with a Xerox Multifunction more recently. Both were top down and both ate paper. After too many months of feeding one sheet at a time, it was time for a change. Was reluctant to go with an ink jet as I've only bought laser before. Spent months looking and eventually decided on this model vs $... more for the 2210.It's a pleasure. The design is excellent. Scanning, copying and printing are more than acceptable. The machine is suprisingly quiet. For those of you who are on the verge, take the plunge. If you're going to fax frequently, go for the 2210.Congratulations to HP on this vastly improved design.

HP Provides Excellent Support
When my HP PSC2175 arrived, I immediately set it up and could not get it to work. Being fairly literate with technology, I was pretty sure it was not something I was doing wrong, so I called the HP technical support number included with the accompanying written information.I was connected to a technician quickly. He was very patient and knowledgeable and ran me through a number of checks to see what was wrong. It turned out that I had to return the unit (yes, a bummer), but HP made that easy. They sent me a new one within 5 days. All I had to do was set up the new one, put the old one in the box the new one came in, and slap on the UPS label to return it.While I would have preferred to avoid the above hassle, HP was exceedingly professional and responsive. And, my replacement unit works great. I love it!

It was great while it lasted
I bought this printer just over a year ago...it was great it printed high quality and fast. Then it started with the paper jams...then the ink cartrige jammed...then the cradle jammed and the ribbons that pull the ink across the printer broke. I went to technical support on line they told me I needed an upgrade...as in a new printer...they offered to sell me a referbed upgrade and I could trade my broken one in but no satisfaction there...I used to love HP now I think they are declining in there quality.
