The Lost Recordings

40 years after his untimely death there is some "new" material available, 7 live tracks from his final tour in 1973 and 5 demo's of previous released hits and album tracks. The demo's are of a surprisingly good quality as are the live tracks. Listening to them makes you realize what a tremendous loss it is that we lost Jim at such a young age, right on the brink of him becoming a superstar. I can tell you that there is hardly a week going by in which I do not think of him (helped a little by the 2 pictures of him that are hanging on the walls of my bedroom), I always wonder what could have been if he was given the time to record so much more music. Although this release is mainly for the hard-core fans that love anything new from this remarkable artist it could also serve as an introduction to his music as the quality is really good and it showcases the strength of his storytelling songs. Several of his biggest hits are on this CD (his first: You don't mess around with Jim, his biggest hit: Bad, bad Leroy Brown and his all time fan-favourite: Time in a bottle), listening to them made me want to hear more, and luckily I have a large collection of his albums. This collection is an intimate listening pleasure, if you like what you hear try one of the following albums that showcase his talents the best: 1 You don't mess around with Jim 2 Life and times 3 I got a name 4 The 50th anniversary collection (which contains all 3 albums mentioned above with his first album (which included his wife Ingrid) and a couple of folk-traditionals that were found in the archives. I am 100% sure you will play them over and over again.

This CD was shipped promptly & in perfect condition. A must have for any Jim Croce fan

Great album

What's not to like? Any recording of Jim Croce or Eva Cassidy now seems like a gift, even if the production quality isn't always 100% I guess one thing you can say about Croce is he locked in on his songs and performed them almost exactly the same each time. I already have some rarities that they released over the years, but happy to add this to the collection!

Great sounds of Jim Croce. Love his voice. I remember the day he died. One of the saddest days of my teen years!!

I have all of Jim's recordings including those issued in high fidelity DCC gold and such, so was skeptical about getting this, thinking it would be redundant. It isn't. The cuts from Harper College are wonderful and the demo cuts stunning. I can only wonder why the entire Harper College show wasn't released and wish those in control of his recordings would release all they could. We aren't getting any younger. Sound quality is extremely clear and detailed. My only criticism is the disc isn't very long; but then again, the price reflects that. Thrilled I picked this up and suggest you do as well if you're a fan.

Great CD but incredibly to short. For the title "the lost recordings" the CD should have been at least twice as long.But as a huge Croce fan it's great to listen to these selections.

Very nice recording. If you're a Croce fan, it's a must have. Arrived very quickly ahead of time. Very pleased.

70% of CD I ordered are always damaged , crack jewel box. Many of which I replace myself at additional cost. Have complain previously , packing is in adquate protection. I might return this one. Pse get back to me .??
