Clips work perfectly
I'm attaching 180ft of rope lights down a flight of concrete steps and around a patio area. I'm attaching the clips with longer screws into plastic anchors. The screws provided didn't work for my application, but the clips are perfect. They hold the rope light securely and are not obvious.

You'll have to throw away the screws that come with the clips! The provided screws are useless!
I have 1/2" rope lights around our screen enclosure with approx. 100 clips supporting over 80' of lightsThe nylon clips I installed would always degrade and fail in FL heat.I purchased the 8mm - 11mm clips that are .53" deep (height) and also purchased separately (from Home Depot) #8-1/2" stainless steel pan head self-tapping sheet metal screws. The screws furnished with the clips are very poor quality screws that strip easily so they are useless & must be abandoned. You will have to drill out each clip hole to allow the #8 screws to fitAfter all that work the clips have sufficient depth (.53") to hold the 1/2" rope light well & i don't ever have to worry again about corrosion given the clips & screws are all stainless steel.

good quality but too shallow
I have a 10 mm rope light. I bought the 9.5-12 mm clips for it. They are too shallow to hold the rope if I mount the clips to the wall with screws or nails. Another reviewer had already mentioned this issue. I should have listened! I didn't have time to return the clips and buy something else. I didn't want to use plastic clips either because they always end up breaking over time. So I modified them to add a little height for the screws. I included a picture to give you an idea of my solution. With the clip on the non-slip handle of my pliers, I squeezed the 2 right angle corners carefully with another pair of pliers. They bent at the weakest point, which is the screw hole, forming a barn shaped clip. This worked! The screws provided are soft, but were usable with pre-drilling.The stainless steel is strong, while still allowing some bending if needed. I don't have to worry about them breaking like the plastic ones!I am happy with the result, but it was a lot more work than anticipated. If the clips were the right shape or depth at the first place, I would have rated them 5 stars.

Old Plastic Clips Breaking?
Replaced the old "Christmas Light" clips on our deck that always break after 1 or 2 seasons. These hold the rope lights much more firmly and improve the overall appearance. This 50 pack was just enough to do our whole job.

Can't recommend for 7/16" or larger rope light
The description states these clips will work for 9.5 - 12mm rope light. I have 7/16", just over 11mm, but the clips are not deep enough for that size, might be OK for 3/8" or smaller.Regarding the screws, make sure you have a fresh #2 Philips bit or screw driver, a #1 is too small, but the bit needs to be crisp. Also, there were 50 clips and 50 screws in the kit. Since the screws are small, they are easy to drop/lose and if you don't drive the screws square into the wood it'll be easy to cam-out and mess up the screw head, stainless steel is a soft metal. A few extra screws would have been welcome.

Holding Up Well!
When hot glue, double sided gorilla tape and other measures did not work, these did. They're holding up a thick rope light just fine.

Much better so far then the plastic type of mounting clips
They are as easy to install as the plastic variety, you can pinch the sides in a bit for a tighter hold on the lights, which for me at least, means that the rope lights no longer loop down. I can pull the lights tight up against the frame for a cleaner aesthetic (personal preference). The metal isnt going to be affected by the Suns UV to make them brittle. I should get more use time out of them compared to the plastic ones.
