EXCELLENT, portable light
[UPDATE 4/18/18: After taking this lamp on a backpacking trip last weekend to Havasupai, AZ, I got a better chance to test this on a more detailed trial. I had it set on the Highest setting, and even though it lit up the camp site very nicely, it only lasted for less than an hour or two -- I don't know when exactly it shut off because I wasn't around when it turned off. The cover for the charging port could easily come off, if you are not careful. This could expose the lamp to moisture during rain.]I do a great deal of camping, hiking, and backpacking, and one of the qualms I have is the need to carry extra batteries with me. For that reason, I had bought a solar lantern before, but the one I have is a bit on the dim side. In addition, it was not chargeable via a power bank, which was inconvenient for days when the sun wasn't out long enough.I decided to give this one a try because it is chargeable via microUSB, and because it also stated that it is "super bright". I am glad that I did because I actually like it a LOT.PROS- Bright- Rechargeable via microUSB- Has a White LED or Red LED mode. Red is great for when we go star gazing and don't want to overpower our eye sight with a bright light- Magnetic base (it was useful for when I needed to work on my car and mounted it on the side door)- Can be hung to the tent pole or any loopCONS- SOS mode flashes the Red light repeatedly, but not in the SOS-standard pattern (3 short, 3 long, 3 short)I do not know yet how long the battery would last on a single charge.Overall, I am quite happy with this light and would recommend it without hesitation. If you find this review helpful, please be sure to hit the "Yes" button. Thank you!

Besides the bad UI, this light is decent!
The Amazon ad states that you can turn the lantern directly off by holding the power button. This is not true. In order to turn lantern off, you must cycle through each one of the light modes. It goes High -> Mid -> Low -> Red -> Flash Red -> OFF.You can use the lantern without a battery when it is connected to a power source via usb. This is a nice feature and the lantern still maintains all light modes. The threads on the tailcap are not lubricated nor are they cleanly cut. This may be one of the reasons why I struggle to screw the cap on.This lantern will work with both protected and unprotected 18650s.

Powerful, Bright, Versatile!
Bought this for our trip/s that we take as a family or when we go to friends house. I gave it to my wife to pack for our beach trip in a couple weeks. She loves it. It has three types of setting for lighting. It's a little smaller than I thought but as my wife and I agree it packs a very bright light. We love that it's rechargeable so you don't have to waste money consistantly on Double AA or Triple-A batteries. And it also has to light settings that are red. One red light that's just red and the other setting is for red blinks that's really bright. I'm sure that's for having it in a vehicle or an emergency if you're on the side of the road.

small, bright. Not terrible (great for <$20)
10)% chinesium tech. The thing arrived with the end cap snug, but (I later found out) not snug enough. You gotta crank it down pretty hard.instructions are 100% chinese, minus a few terms like "USB" and "18650".Plug in a MicroUSB cable (short one is included) and a little hidden LED under the power button will turn green. If it's charging, red. If you see green and think it should be charging, the battery is probably not in tight enough... crank it down and look for that red light. The power button (when the battery is installed correctly) cycles through 5 modes: BRIGHT, medium, least-bright, red, blinky red, off. The BRIGHT mode is like uncomfortably bright in daylight in my kitchen, I assume I'll be using the least-bright mode in an actual emergency. The lantern is a lot smaller than I expected, which is probably a good thing. It's maybe 1.5" taller than an 18650.It came with a 2000mAh 18650, and (once I tightened it enough) seems to be charging correctly. I shall test it for longevity with the included battery plus my own 4000mAh known-good batteries. I'll report back when I have some test data.edit: 9h and no evident difference in brightness. I loaded it with an older 18650 I had around. I think it's a 2600mAh, not sure. Anyway, 9h meets my "overnight" goal handily. After dark we turned off all the lights and ran this at full blast in a big room, it's definitely enough for the living room. Ordering a couple more for the hurricane kit.

Light lasts 8 hours on medium, 3 hours on high setting
On fully charged battery, the high setting lasted close to 3 hours. It's bright enough to light a12x8 room no problem. Charged it again, set it on medium, and light stayed on for a little over 8 hours. The low setting is comparable to a nightlight. The difference btwn. this and other lanterns is it has no smell (compared to our colemans), and it's rechargeable- less wasted batteries (AA and AAA's). It also has various settings, is lightweight, and small/packable. The downside is it needs electricity to charge, so better for indoor use for power outages.

Stopped working after 1st charge
I bought this lantern to take camping. When it arrived I installed the battery (instructions in Chinese) and clicked through the functions with the on-off switch. It worked as expected. I then connected it to the USB charging port of my Goal Zero Yeti 400 overnight to charge. The orange light under the on-off button came on which I assumed meant it was charging (again the instructions are in Chinese so I was making an assumption based on using similar products). I then took it off the charger and clicked the on-off button and nothing happened. I connected it to the USB port on my laptop for a couple of hours, again the orange light came on but the on-off button failed to light up the lantern. I returned it via Amazon - whose customer service was excellent and made the process very easy. Disappointed in the product, happy with Amazon's customer service. Now I need to go buy another lantern, which is a hassle.

a very impressive lantern - albeit rather tiny
At first glance, on receiving the item, I was shocked at its size - as it's very small ... it will easily rest in the palm of your hand. I was, therefore, not expecting a lot. However, this happens to be an excellent lantern. It's exceptionally bright. As such, it's a highly compact (easily portable) and useful lantern - great for camping. The item comes with a (rechargeable) battery, that's fully charged on arrival. It's simple to insert. There's one button - and as you press it, you move through the settings (high power, medium power, low power, red illumination, and flashing red). There's also a USB port for recharging (and a USB cable is included ... although you'll need a plug if you're using mains power to recharge it). A little handle (which folds down) sits on the top, making it easy to hang this lantern.Overall, I'm very impressed. As the item is water proof (i.e. it'll work in the rain, not under water), it's perfect for outdoor pursuits. At under £15, I'm happy with my purchase.Note: all the instructions are in a language other than English. However, it's easy to work out how to use this item. I've added a photo to show size comparison.

Quality exceeded expectations!
I already have far too many torches, but I was after a cheap 18650-powered lantern for general outdoor use. I was expecting to be made of the usual cheap Chinesium but I was happy to accept this for something that won't get a huge amount of use. What arrived was an item which is 1) much smaller than I expected, and 2) much more solid-feeling and well-made than expected.I immediately recycled the included deathtrap of an 18650 and popped in a Samsung cell, as all responsible purchasers should do. I was then greeted by a nice diffuse, bright cool-but-almost-neutral white light. It's a shame you have to cycle through all the modes (high>med>low>red>flashing) to turn it off, but such is life. You can't have it all.I'm hoping it'll last - I'll update this review if it breaks prematurely!Highly recommended.

Worst pictographs ever
It is performing very well, as expected. It is small and compact with a very bright light. But when the package is first opened, the battery is not installed, so I had to do it myself. If you look on the box, the pictures are the only thing to go by, unless you read Chinese. For battery installation, there are 3 drawings that indicate what to do, except for 1 important instruction: which way does the battery go? There are no polarity markings, either in the drawings or in the battery compartment. I installed, tried turning it on and nothing. Flipped the battery and nothing. Tried again and it finally worked. Which way does the battery go? Positive end goes in first with the cap on the negative or flat end.

Bought this for £11.99 on a daily deal to see what it was like
I wasn't really expecting much for the money and when the instructions where non existant on which way round the battery supplied was supposed to be installed i was expecting even less to be honest. WOW was I wrong!!!! once i managed to find the makers website and see a picture of how the battery had to go in, I was VERY IMPRESSED. for a latern small enough to fit in your pants pocket this thing easily lights a whole room and is perfect for winter storm powercuts. Nect time its on offer i'm buying more and would sincerely suggect you do the same

Small but packs a bright punch
Great little lamp. Small and compact, but packs a bright light. Liked the bright and dimmed settings. Just been camping and it was great in the tent. Haven’t timed length of light time, and will depend on setting, but seemed a good duration. Need to recharge, so need a USB power supply. I think it is great and probably will buy another one.

Lightweight, long battery, bright.
I used this whilst wild camping the other week and it was a great tool in the belt. The different light settings are a nice touch and the highest setting is blinding in the darkness. Battery life held up a good 6 hours on highest settings before outing but I'm happy with that.

A GREAT BUY. RECOMMENDED.
Amazed at the small size & extremely pleased at the brightness of this little lamp.I use it in my little campervan where space is premium & light is necessary at night to live & read by, & being usb chargeable it uses no essential power. It is an excellent product.

Do not buy it.
Awarded 1 Star because it arrived within the time advised otherwise a complete load of JUNK. Ordered three and received two. They worked fine for several hours and on recharge, light indicated 'charging' and after several hours, no charge held. Tried recharging via computer and via kindle wall adapter but both failed. No luck contacting dealers either.

worked only once
After the first charge the lamp worked well, having left it on the side table for a fortnight, I needed it to look under the sofa, but it no longer worked, I checked the battery and it was fine, however I did swap it for another and still nothing. So very disappointing.

Superb!
Second one we've bought, this one even included a battery. Perfect camping lantern will light a 6 berth tent on medium setting wonderfully.

Really bright light for the size.
The unit is compact and the light is very bright. I’m very please with the product. Haven’t gone camping with it yet so still have to check the battery life.
