It does seem to make my mixture (coconut and lavender oil) last longer (stay dry longer), but I still have to reapply constantly. It doesn't compare to the 24-48 hour chemical-laced products at the store. It does work though, and I'd rather reapply than risk my health. This is a pure white, very fine certified organic product that has worked great in the dishes we have tried so far. I am not sure what the shelf life is, but we have kept in air tight containers in a dark, cool area. May try to place a little in the freezer if we still have some in a month or so just to make sure it remains good, as one pound is more than one would think when it comes to a fine powdery spice.
