    Good quality

*by B***M on Reviewed in the United States on January 21, 2014*

I was looking for a compact-sized daily use bag with MOLLE webbing and this fits the bill. Most day packs nowadays are made to carry 17" laptops and are way too big. This backpack could fit a 15" laptop but it doesn't have a dedicated, padded laptop sleeve and that's perfect for my needs. From the Red Rock website the dimensions are 10"L X 9"W X 18"H and it mentions both 23L and 16L as the capacity. 23L or 1400 cubic inches seems to be more accurate and you can fit a lot in the main compartment. There is also a zippered area in the main compartment that could hold a tablet, but its doesn't have any padding. The side mesh water bottle holder fits my oversized, insulated 25 oz. EcoVessel water bottle so that's one less thing I need to figure out how to carry. The admin compartment has three slots to hold pens, a card and a non-detachable key clip. Its a little deep for me since it only unzips half way down, but that also keeps things secure. There's a last zippered compartment on the back, just under the MOLLE webbing that would also hold a tablet, again unpadded.I didn't really want the "Y" compression strap so it was a good to find that I could remove it and the sternum strap for everyday use. I can always put them back on for real hiking. The ACU pattern is standard so its lighter than it looks in the picture but still good. The quality is very high and looks like it will take a beating. There doesn't seem to be any weak points or unfinished seams. The zippers are good and the zipper handles are cord so they make no noise. If looks and feel are anything to go by, this should last a long time and the price was pretty good compared to some other brands. Recommended.**UPDATE: It's been a year now of almost daily use and the bag still looks great with no signs of wear or stitching coming undone. I'm very happy with the way I can load up the bag with a bunch of heavy stuff like bottles of water and it holds it without any strain. It seems that this bag is an affordable copy of the Maxpedition Pygmy Falcon-II, but I'm glad I got this bag instead as its a great value. In fact, I recently tried the 5.11 Rush 12 as I wanted just a little more organization in the admin panel section before returning to the Summit. Maxpedition and 5.11 gear are very durably made, but it comes with the tradeoff of a heavyness and stiffness that I just don't need for EDC.****UPDATE 2: Over three years now of daily use and finally some minor signs of wear showing. This the best bang for the buck I've ever spent on a backpack. Zippers have never failed and still sturdy as heck. I'm considering buying another one in case this backpack is discontinued.**

Either quality control is not that good, or this is just not a good bag in general. (Did not last me for over two months.)

*by P***K on Reviewed in the United States on April 8, 2016*

I'm person that is out almost all day for multiple days of the week. I also fly once a month for 1,000+ mile trips. My take away from this bag: Do not bother with it.This backpack has caused me more annoyances, and in many reasonable ways, has made me consider returning it. I absolutely hate it, and this is coming from someone that tries to get things to work if I can. This bag is not meant for rigid goods. The bag lacks the ability to expand, which makes it a pretty bad candidate for a bag that is considered a day pack. Containers, cases, you name it, it will not properly fit in this bag without having to jury rig the bag with multiple things tethered to the MOLLE/PABS webbing. There are a few flaws in this pack that I've noticed:The zippers are of the same quality as a Jansport bag. They easily get misguided and open up in places that the zipper has gone over. They snag up easily, and are just of very, very poor quality.Secondly: the "weather" lining in the bag has been shedding off all over the inside of the bag. If you are unfamiliar with what I'm talking about, it seems that Red Rock put a plastic or PVC lining in the inner part of the bag to make the bag, in some ways, lightly rain proof, but it is completely useless. I got caught out in medium to heavy rain for a few minutes, and it proved to be useless.Third: The water bottle slots cause tension on the pack near the zippers and makes it very hard to close if you have a remotely full pack. Obviously, being supplied with poor zippers, this type of thing easily causes annoyance. In order to get around this, you have to undo the drawstring.Fourth, there is a hole developing in the bottom right side of the pack. From my purchasing date of this pack, to the day of this review, I have only had this bag for an excess of around a month and 10/11 days. I have taken it on a total of two hikes, and though it proved adequate to carry me through for a few hours, it has definitely not proved its claims as a tough or "bug out" bag.If a company mentions that their bag is a "bug out" bag, you should be able to take it and have it be reliable for longer than a month and a few days. Apart from the multi hour hikes, I packed this bag fairly light, and I commuted with it a small amount, and from what I've taken away, this bag is not capable of serving you for a long amount of time.I'm disappointed. I had expectations that were completely out of line, and on top of that, the bag started deteriorating right after the Amazon/Seller 30 day warranty. I understand that this is one of the lower reviews of the may higher rated ones, but I suggest you take this review as a precaution.

better quality than expected, color different than pic, STRONG CHEMICAL ODOR

*by J***G on Reviewed in the United States on May 12, 2016*

I love this backpack. granted, I only had it for 3 days now, and so far I can already say what I like and don't like. first off, I was a little disappointed that the olive drab is actually more of a dark army forest green. the backpack IS the one pictured, but the one in the picture is way lighter in color. hopefully it fades over time.my other gripe is that they seem to have overdone whatever chemicals it has been treated with. (waterproofing maybe?) the chemical odor is so strong it stings my eyes just from opening it. I noticed a horrible chemical taste in my mouth and finally i realised it's from the lip of my water bottle rubbing up against the side of the backpack. I've been stuck in a cycle of trying to wash the taste out of my mouth with the same water bottle that keeps adding more chemical taste. anyways.. just something to be aware of. my whole room smells like chemicals from this bag.all that being said, those are "issues" that will probably be resolved through age. also, maybe you don't care but I did have to trim some of the straps and burn the edges. still better to be too long than too short.on a positive note, the materials are way more rugged and heavy duty than I expected. the inside of the pockets are lined with some kind of rubber that should be extremely water resistant. and it accepts my camelbak perfectly. keep in mind it doesn't come with a water bladder, I already had my own. so far I think this bag is awesome. I saw a video on YouTube where the straps support 300lbs. the quality of this bag is very apparent. if you don't mind some chemical odor then you won't be disappointed in this bag.
