The Witness: A Tale of the Life and Death of a Mafia Madman

I grew up in Brooklyn specifically from (Pacific & Eastern Parkway ) in and around the neighborhoods (F&R E&P) written about in the book. I knew Robert quite well and always saw the kinder softer side of Robert that most others didn't see. I thought this would make for some interesting reading and it did not disappoint. It's a gripping and compelling story of Robert's life while under the influence of gangs, the mob and drugs. Some of the stories happenning before and after I knew him. It grips you from the first page to the last and you won't be able to put it down until the last page is read. The transformation is amazing with or without God, I truly hope his life has turned around. Just like "Goodfellas" which was loosely based on the Mafia families that Robert associated with, I think I see "The Witness" movie coming soon to a theater near you.

The life of Robert Borelli was a total mess as he became involved in drugs and the mafia in New York City. His marriage was wrecked and it took the plea of his four-year old daughter asking him why he didn't come to see her (she didn't know he was housed at Riker's Island) to make him come to his senses and turn his life around with a commitment to God. It was rewarding to read a story of a former mafioso to come to grips with himself and find a life for himself other than prison or an early grave.

This account of one man's decline into and struggle out of the abyss of evil shows us that nobody is too hopeless for God's salvation through Christ. I felt anguish when reading the raw account of Robert's road to self-destruction but knew that by God's intervention, he survived this dark chapter in his life for a reason. So it was with relief that I learned of not only Robert's salvation but also his reliance on God to overcome his trials and tribulations. It is a tale that should be shared with everyone; to give hope to those who struggle without God as their rock and without Christ as their redeemer and to inspire and remind other Christians of God's goodness, power, and love.

I have crossed Roberts path when I was younger many years ago. He was a jerk in those days. Guess he had little man syndrome . Hope he has found god and that he is on the right path. Hope he will try to make it up to his daughter. Good luck to you. The book was told very well. Unfortunately most of the guys we grew up with ended up that way.

Robert's story had me captivated from the first chapter. This book is a great read and I found it challenging to put down! His story mirrors Paul's in that God pursues us even when we feel we are undeserving and makes us whole. To see redemption in its truest form in this book is a genuine blessing.

I know this man and I was interested to read about his life and the things he went through. I learned a lot about the witness protection program.

The "Witness" is an eye opening account of Robert's evil life of corruption, and how God's love, grace and redemption made the difference in his life. Just as God has made the difference in my life, and God wants to love, forgive and redeem you too.

The author shared a side of life not known to many readers. For that, I thank him and wish him well.

This a wonderful testimony of how God’s Grace and unconditional love is there for everyone of us. We can find forgiveness no matter how bad our mistakes have been or what we’ve done. I could not put this book down!
