Very happy, recommend this unit
Very small which is ideal, takes a few seconds to connect but works well. I would recommend this unit to others and would purchase again.

Eas of use and setup
The device worked very well. I was reviewing other devices for a lot more money. But this one boasted all of the same features. I ordered it came the next day . I plugged it and followed the directions and my Android phone connected and wirelessly Android Auto came up and worked as it should. I was very please. I got it for my 2025 Patherfinder RockCreek.

Works but improvements needed
First, the product itself does the job. However, the adapter for the USB C doesn't offer the right angle like the USB A to A does. I have found only ONE right angle adapter on the market that has the USB A configuration that will allow the dongle to face forward so you have access to the power button. If the adapter for the USB C included with the product was right angle (it definitely minimizes the chance for the dongle to accidentally get damaged from getting knocked out of the plug because it sticks out), I would rate it higher The other issue is that even when you open the car door and get out of the car, the dongle continues to try to reconnect to the phone for a couple of minutes until the car completely powers down. I have even used the notification to "disconnect", but the dongle overrides the disconnect command on the phone. The only options I have found (so far) to address this is to 1. Unplug the dongle before getting out of the car, or 2. Just deal with the connect/disconnect cycling for the couple minutes you're within range of the car (which 30-40 feet is STILL within range). Fix the issues mentioned above and I'll upgrade to 5 stars UPDATE: I have changed the rating to one star because of my latest trip to Dallas. The dongle turned itself OFF for no reason (ultimately blanking my car screen AND my phone screen) leaving me with ZERO directions during critical interchanges. The dongle light would turn red, then off completely, then the blue light would turn back on, but blink. This happened EIGHT TIMES in less than 10 minutes. Don't waste your money, unless you don't care when the dongle turns itself off whenever it wants to at the most inopportune time.

The Acura MDX factory wirelss android auto is junk. This small dongle saves my 2024 MDX.
My 2024 Acura MDX comes with wireless Android Auto, but the connection is unstable, it seems at some specific location the connection will disconnect , 99% of time. I took the car to dealer ship, they just keep give me useless advice, asking me if my phone is too old or software not updated, I told them my phone is the samsung flagship s25 ultra, and I keep my phone updated all the time. Anyway, they couldn't help. I have to use USB cable to use android auto on a 2024 Acura MDX. When I see this product, I think I may try my luck. So I disable my car's android auto wireless , and unpair the blue bluetooth. Plug in this dongle, pair my phone with this dongle through bluetooth, boom! everything is working flawlessly, the device connects my phone with my car's bluetooth and then disconnect itself. The android auto works flawlessly, I never had disconnection issue, and it always starts in less than 10 seconds. Compared to the acura factory wireless android auto, it's day and night difference. it would be my last Acura.

Don't let perfect be the enemy of the good
Here's the thing that a lot of people miss when reviewing this device: It does something that shouldn't be possible, and which is not officially supported by any major car brand or even any "name brand" electronics company. And that, of course, is the ability to convert your wired-only CarPlay vehicle to be Wireless CarPlay capable. Is it perfect? Definitely not. Do I wish it were better? Absolutely. But am I glad something like this exists for $45? Emphatically, YES! The simple truth is that it does what its supposed to most of the time and performs more or less just as well as cars with built-in wireless CarPlay; yes, the lag people have left negative reviews over is an inherent limitation of using WiFi instead of a wired connection and is about the same lag as you'd get with built-in wireless CarPlay. It does, however, definitely experience random bugs or glitches from time to time. But on balance I'd still say its worth the convenience of being able to get into my now 10 year-old car and having the CarPlay automatically connect. The reason why no major brands have released anything like this themselves is likely that there is no way to make it "perfect" enough to avoid significant negative feedback. That said, I hope this company sticks around and continues to refine the product. I'm docking it a star because it definitely has some bugs here and there, but I also think 4 stars is a fair reflection of how well it actually does function most of the time.

Almost Excellent - The Glitches Are a Dealbreaker:[
I really wanted to love this device... The setup is easy, it connects quickly most of the time, and on good days it feels like a solid upgrade over plugging in my phone every time. The build quality seems decent, the 5GHz WiFi is a nice touch, and itโs compact enough to leave plugged in. When everything is behaving, itโs genuinely convenient. Unfortunately, the glitches are frequent enough that they ruin the experience.Thereโs a noticeable 0.5โ1.5 second delay between touching anything on the infotainment screen and the actual response. Switching tracks on Spotify becomes annoying because you tap, nothing happens immediately, so you tap again and suddenly skip two songs. The same lag applies to the steering wheel controls and any other car buttons that should interact with CarPlay. It just feels unresponsive. Navigation apps are even worse. Both Waze and Google Maps have the same input lag, and for some reason you canโt zoom in or out on the map at all with this adapter (my carโs native wired CarPlay handles zooming just fine). Panning the map around is also laggy, which makes the whole navigation experience feel sluggish and imprecise. But the real deal-breaker is the audio dropout bug. The CarPlay interface renders normally on the screen and shows music as playing, but no sound comes out of the speakers. It doesnโt matter if itโs Spotify, YouTube, SiriusXM, or even trying Bluetooth - total silence. The only fix is to physically press the button on the Ottocast dongle to force a reboot. Sometimes it works perfectly for several drives, sometimes it dies after one ride, and occasionally it never even starts working properly. Itโs incredibly annoying to have to reach over and restart the thing every time it happens. Just in the last few days a new bug appeared: the music playing through the speakers goes out of sync with whatโs displayed on the screen. The video keeps going but the audio lags behind - it makes the whole thing basically unusable for media. Iโm keeping it at 2 stars because there are still days when it works flawlessly and reminds me how good this could be. If Ottocast can iron out these reliability and latency issues, this would easily be a 4.5โ5 star product. As it stands right now, the constant glitches and workarounds make me regret not just sticking with the cable.

easy setup
I had a different device that quit working, so I replaced it with this device. It seems to work great! I've only had it installed for about 3 days. The setup was easy. The first few times I used it, it took a minute ot two to connect to my vehicle. Since then, it connects quickly and works fine.

ONE YEAR REVIEW
Iโve had this for almost a year now. I had to do a return for the first one I ordered because it stopped working after 6 months. They sent me a new one and this has lasted me almost a year, which is great! But I wouldโve wanted it to last longer. The first one I had for 6 months: Was having trouble connecting and kept disconnecting in certain areas. Replacement that I had for almost a year: I thought it was the plugs in my car but my car is brand new. I tried it with a normal type c cord and it works perfectly fine. Iโm not sure if itโs the bluetooth connection to my car but it continues to disconnect and only stays on for about 5 mins then disconnects. Honestly, I find this tool convenient. However, the connection to my car is just not working. Well I guess it worked for a year, but now its not. I would prefer not to keep having to buy something that doesnโt have the longevity. I have a Mazda CX-5 (2025) if that helps.

1 year use, seamless switch between apple car play and android auto. Definitely recommend!
I have been using it for 1 year and it seamlessly switches between android auto and apple car play. It remembers the last connection and reconnects in the same mode. the vehicle should support a cabled version of android auto and apple car play in order to convert it to wireless mode.

Happy I bought it
I have used it on my Mercedes GLB250 2023 - which supports wired carplay only, and I have to say it works fantastic and connects both Android and IOS easily and switches. Of course, some glitches occurs some times, but it is fixed with a reset bottom and is not annoying. Also its size is great. Happy I chose it, but the price was way cheaper than what I see now on.
