I think it plays a little stiff, but again not too bad.this banjo has a nice bright sound. it's loud enough. this banjo also stays in tune after sitting, and after being played. It is not as sensitive to extremes of hot and cold weather as my other banjo of similar price and quality.I think it's a good kickin around banjo for the money.It would be an ok banjo for a beginner, or someone who needs a white banjo for something. I changed this pretty white banjo to five stars. It needs light strings to sound great, and a fresh setup which you can have done at your favorite music store. this banjo has a bright loud sound top and bottom, with the lows not being quite deep enough, however heavier strings can fix that, But light strings are best for this one.I like it. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great for newbies like me *by M***T on January 27, 2020* This is my first 5-string banjo. It tunes up easy and accurately with a free banjo tuner app on your phone. You need to buy thumb and finger picks and a strap. Check out Jim Pankey on YouTube for FREE lessons and you'll be on your way. Great banjo for starting out. See if you like it and maybe in a year or three get a middle-of-the-road one.
