AMACO Kiln Wash In Powder Form - Dry, 1 lb

This I s an excellent product! Those who have problems are not following directions. The company takes the guesswork out of water/wash mix ratio. It works very well when used as directed. Too many or too thick coats will cause it to flake, also not waiting for it to dry between coats. It is best to plan ahead and apply coats a few days before the shelves are needed.

I have tried 3 times to use this kiln wash. It continues to flake and peel. This 1st photo shows it flaking before it has been in the kiln. I scraped all the wash off and recoated with 3 coats. I keep thinning it after each failed attempt. The 2nd photo is after kiln firing to cone 5. It’s flaking and peeling if fired to cone 04 tp cone 5. The last firing I did let the kiln wash completely dry in between coats and it was completely dry before using it in the kiln. I did mix accordingly to instructions for the 1st attempt but have diluted the wash further for 2nd and 3rd try.

Came promptly. I was missing ingredient to make my own and needed quickly.

Good stuff! Instructions mention wanting a paint mixer drill attachment, and that sure would have saved me some time, but I got there.

This is a really good wash for your kiln shelf. No sticking. Easy to mix and use.

Kiln wash met my expectations.

I gave it a one star because it peeled/lifted right off my shelves. Twice! Mixed it Thinner second time to cream consistency. Peeled again. Blick is very dependable; Don’t understand why this peeled..

It does just what I want it to do. It got here right on time.
