## Description

The Mueller thumb stabiliser is designed to help support and limit the motion of the thumb (metacarpophalangeal (MCP) joint). The brace will still allow full range of finger movement. The Thumb stabilizer is ideal for use on soft tissue injuries, ligament strains, osteoarthritis and degenerative joint disease and as part of rehabilitation. It will provide warmth to the thumb area well as joint area. Perfect as support and protection. For wearing often to reduce the pain from arthritic conditions or to offer support and compression after a colles fracture or skiers thumb injury. The stabilizer fits on either hand and has three adjustable straps to ensure a custom fit. There are two running stays up either side of the thumb to provide maximum support and limit movement. The product is Latex free and protected by the aegis microbe shield that controls or eliminates odours, unsightly stains product. ioration caused by the growth of bacteria and microorganisms.

Review: I had a brace to try it out for my diabetic cheiroarthropathy, where there is a steady reduction in flesh on the hands, with the intense symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome, along with thumb muscle wastage, amass. There is also nerve damage, neuropathy, leading to painful numbness and a lack of signals reaching fingers and thumbs. I simply cannot fault this product except perhaps for slight bobbling. It holds the thumb in place and reduces pain so much, as I take opiates for this pain when it is out of control. I now simply cannot live without them. I have one for each hand, but you can alternate hands if you want to save money and only buy one. The straps have the labelling along them, so it's better to get them facing the correct direction, once you have reached your final tension required. The main label that advertises Mueller is along the longest strap of the three that there are. To summarise the 3 straps: 1) one strap to wrap around your thumb to the tension that you require - attaches as velcro component so it can stay on the thumb area or be attached to the main body of the brace on the hand; 2) one strap to wrap around your hand, which you extend via the rear side area of your hand, and there is a 'gate' area specifically for this to be achieved to the best fit possible (extremely important and good for security); 3) one strap to wrap along the base of the hand / wrist area, so that the wrist is held in the best possible comfort. It is indeed breathable and I love the warmth that it offers me as my blood circulation is poor after so many years of diabetes. Sometimes my fingers/thumbs appeared really white from poor circulation, but the pain was minimised by this support. I tried to have a break from using it constantly, as I read the customer reviews here and became worried. But I don't really need to worry. It's in use when I do hand muscle building exercises, as it gives the edge that I need to work out, both with Chinese silver chime ball pairs and with stress balls. The only negative that I can see, with relation to bobbling, is that they can get dirty pretty quickly, so need to be washed regularly. For this reason, I honestly prefer having a pair of them. I'm not too dependent yet, but I would much rather use these braces than take opiates (I take fentanyl, so imagine how painful it is). After losing my sole brace at hospital today after my haemodialysis session, I am straight back ordering a new pair of them, so that I can restore my reduction in pain relief use. Honestly, hand on heart, I highly recommend this for any diabetic like me, any carpal tunnel syndrome sufferer, any muscle wastage sufferer, any cubital syndrome sufferer and anyone on dialysis with knuckle pains and spontaneous fractures. I am a small size and it fitted very well. I couldn't ask for a better product for my suffering. I hope that your experience of chronic pain will also be dramatically reduced like I found. This is indeed a product worth paying extra for, that will be worth every single penny. And if you don't look after yourself properly, it's only you who you answer to... Best wishes.
Review: I bought two of these and they are lifesavers. They're super well priced for how well they work. I have really bad repetitive stress injury (I suffer symptoms of carpal tunnel, trigger finger, tendonitis, de quarvains tennosinivitis/gamers thumb, etc) and, at one point, my hands basically wouldn't work at all. I've tried a couple other types of braces and found they weren't helpful for various reasons. These, however, seem to help quite a bit. The velcro wore out somewhat after a while but I use them A LOT so that's to be expected regardless of the product and they still stick pretty well anyhow. I went from wearing them nearly all the time (be careful if you do this as it can cause atrophy) to just wearing them in my sleep. Make sure that while you wear them you are not doing anything too strenuous to make your muscles/tendons fight against the braces to move as this will cause further injury. Also make sure you don't adjust them too tight. I have really petite hands and they fit me well and you can adjust them to be quite large. So it seems they will fit a wide array of hand sizes. All in all, great product, just make sure you use them correctly (as with anything you use). Hopefully they help your hands too.

**Q: Has anyone wore this while sleeping? Did it seem to help?**
A: I use mine mostly at night because it is designed to be fairly restrictive and when I wear if for say an hour or so during the day, then I can't do a lot of things with that hand. These thumb stabilizers have helped me a lot, however my condition is heading toward surgery, and I wouldn't be surprised if the doc wanted me to wear this while recovering. Be careful not to over tighten as it isn't necessary to get full benefit and may restrict blood flow to the very area that needs maximum circulation to help. I have several of these and hand wash them and hang them outside to dry. Folks complaining about it hurting them and having to take it off half way through the night may just be wearing it too tightly as the objective is that it is comfortable and greatly restricts movement but not totally eliminate any movement.

**Q: I have basal thumb arthritis and just started working out at a gym.  Gripping and working with weights is painful in my thumbs. Will these help?**
A: Hi, don't know if this will help you.  It's my husband that wears these supports.  He too has arthritis throughout his hand, carpal tunnel, chronic tennis elbow combined with shoulder problems.  He's 65 and has worked as a mechanic for 50 years.  He started developing severe pain about 4 to 5 years ago. He's been through cortisone shots galore but he still experienced hand (especially in the thumb/wrist area).  The pain was worst when he used his high power air tools.  I suggested wearing a support and found these at Amazon.  I got one for him and he was so happy with it that he now has six of them (so he still has a couple when the rest are in the wash).  He has told me that he has gotten considerable relief, even when using the air tools.  He believes it is specifically because of the support he gets through the thumb/wrist area.  I am not a doctor so cannot really comment if it will work for you when lifting weights.  My only suggestion might be to purchase one (they're not that expensive) and see how it works for you.  I wish you luck.

**Q: My wrist is just under 5.5" (about 5.25), will is still work, or be to large?**
A: My wrist is also 5 1/4" and it works fine.  It has given me great relief from sharp arthritis pain in my thumb joint.  I only need to wear it at night and when I work out with weights.  I'm going to buy a second one so that I can always have one on my night stand and another in my gym bag.

**Q: is this good for right hand?**
A: Actually, I found that it worked well on my left hand because the straps pull my thumb up and back. When worn on the right hand, the straps tighten in a way that pushes the thumb in toward the palm. I found it more uncomfortable and there is no way to change this. That was just my experience though, it is a well made product, and may serve your needs just fine.
